I feel a bit young for once, I was more a 70's/ 80's rocker. I worked at New Hartford TV for many Years in the 80's and 90's and used make guitar cords for and fix lots of the local musicians equipment. John Leibing, Danny Holmes and Dean, Mancini, Paul Case, Jon Smales on and on and on. So much beer on the mixing boards...
any one remember Ted Grabowski, local big band leader and great saxaphone player. RIP Ted, he was a good friend, military hero and one of the good guys, played out with Sal Alberico and the boys for years.
They are all great guys, miss them dearly, hope to hear from some of them here!

JG, you must be familiar with John Kelsey also. He's on my FaceBook (we went to highschool together) & still plays out a lot around here. Most recently at the Killabrew, I think, with some other guy whose name I don't remember. He also used to sell instruments in the 70s, but he worked at the music store near the Stanley.

Gosh, I dont remember that name, or Joe Sweet who I think is the other guy you are talking about. Many moons ago, I would do the Killabrew here and there but that was mostly NH folks. Jamie Noterthomas was another guy I used to like to see out, he was an Syr guy.
I had a standing reservation at the Valley Brook lounge. I didnt do much with instrumental gear, mostly Amps, Mixers, Speakers, Black Boxes and other Electronics. I think the last time I was at the Brook was the early 90's.
Fun stuff, too many good times.

Paul Case. My partner in unmentioned crimes, Phyllis, used to date him years ago. He plays quite a bit up in the Inlet/Old Forge area.

Paul is a class act, loved Key West and the big easy if I recall. Saw him first time 30+ years ago at Stan's Iron Horse in Vernon, he got around pretty good, always laid back and never "sweating the little things".
He used to play The Brook here and there. Would join in on a few with Danny Holmes and John Leibing once in a while. I think they all had a band together once, Greg Dean might even have been playing with Danny still then. Rich Mancinni could show up and impromptu gigs happened all the time.
I jumped out the back window of the Brook 2 stories down to escape The Icelandic Princess. Memories....

Keep those juicy stories coming, kids. Us old timers get our kicks from stuff like that. It reminds us of the stories about ourselves from days of old that we can't mention on the Internet (yes, we were rascals for sure).
But it sounds like you've paid your dues and are now card-carrying members of the past, however recent. So God bless you all.
Oh, I talked with a guy yesterday who recognized me from when I played bass. How he did this, I'll never know. He was a hot musician in the early 50s and played with most of the greats in our area. Imagine that... he remembered me. I'm honored. He knew and played with the gurus that we patterned ourselves after. He's the real champion and I can't even remember his name. He was a trained drummer like me, but he transitioned from Glenn Miller to what we remember as early rock-'n-roll. I hope we meet again. I have so many stories to tell him, and I'd love to hear some of his.
You girls would love this guy. His schmooze would get you all "hot and bothered." I guar-own-tee!

OMG Cris, Kenny is such a riot, wired tight, 17 forever. He still runs the place I believe. That boy had an itch that couldn't be scratched, the eternal player! I really enjoyed my time there, It was tons of fun, so many good people, haven't seen most of them in a decade.
Stoney, Trust me Sweets, I never laid eyes on you but this I am sure of, You are no Icelandic Princess! She was here to visit her sister for a month from Iceland, gosh were they opposites but they sounded the same on the phone! She looked a bit Like A transvestite Ichabod Crane. She was so sweet, I couldn't hurt her feelings, I was warned that she had just been dropped off out front by Sis! I slipped out the back door, And there is no back door; three guys lowered me out the window and I jumped!!!!
I got my chops busted for years...
Kit, its all good as long as we can laugh about it and most of it was pretty funny, mixed with a smattering of highly stupid!

PS Kit, I'm Married with Grandchildren! My social life reads like the who's who of Podunk MI, breakfat at the Nothin Fancy on Sundays is about as social as it gets for me now a-days outside of work and the Bloggisphere.! Its not so bad, I didn't give up everything, just the things that were likely to kill me. I don't ever wish to be young again, I just hoping to avoid growing old too fast!!!

Robmeister, I was married once and have three daughers, three sons-in-law and 6 grandchildren. It might be best if they never know about the memories we have from our old days. They love us for who we are now and might not if they knew who we were then, but it's fun to think about, isn't it?
