Lava club now members onlyIn an effort to allow alcohol being sold at the Lava nightclub, the Oneidas have closed it to the general public and are having it privately catered by caterers who can obtain a liquor license. I use the word can because it was clear from the October LLA decision that the OIN can not obtain a liquor license for political reasons. On the OIN's last applications, they demonstrated compliance with all the law's requirements to obtain a liquor license. The only reason they were denied a license was because of "legal issues concerning their sovereignty" and not because of something that did not comply with the state's liquor law. It doesn't get anymore political than that. Once again, the Oneida Indian Nation is reaching out to community businesses. Imagine if the government did the same thing. Imagine if the government reached out to community businesses by lowering taxes, reigning in its out-of-control spending, and settling this dispute in a manner that is fair and equitable to both the state and the OIN. Oh the potential is indescribable.

You may want to take a look at the syringe she's carrying first.

Los - you nailed it. Big picture. Destito pushes for water to be shipped across 2 counties for the OIN, and somehow the restaurant they run gets to cater food and sell booze at their place. But it's all for the greater good....yeh right! No conflict of interest there.
