Are you guys talking about "Wild Bill"? I used to serve him when I worked at Cavenaugh's Cove. He had the great big bull horns on the front of his pick-up truck. He usually wasn't a problem, unless he got really drunk at which point he was obnoxious as all hell.
Or maybe Mark Duck? He was a big pain.

Dave,
She mentioned Hwys 15 & 17 in Virginia so I assume she took the route I sometimes take when I don't feel like dealing with rush hour in the Baltimore/DC area. She also mentioned one in the Binghamton area.
I also think they should work efficiently as long as people are familiar with the route and signs are good. Part of her problem was the Garmin telling her to take the 3rd exit as she was passing it & then recalculating. I don't remember and roundabouts on that route so I assume they are new.

Did this guy Cowboy always wear a cowboy hat, & talk kinda with a southern drawl? If that's the one I'm thinking, he's a total nitwit. Used to hang around a couple joints on the east side? Yes Kracker, he wore a hat most of the time and sometimes just a bandanna. He tried to come into Rick's Place on Mohawk St when I worked there but after dealing with him in W.Utica I refused to serve him and threw him out. When I ran TR's afterhour breakfast place for TR when she was in the hospital, he'd come in there also and always started trouble with the other customers. Everyone thought he was funny at first but then he'd get out of control. Better not to deal with him. Personally, I think the southern drawl was a put-on cause when he tried to argue with me, he had no drawl. Big phony in many ways. Yep, sounds like him. I knew some guys that would allow him to go deer hunting with them. They'd let him carry a shotgun- minus the shells. I kid you not.

I forget where 15 is, but I take 17 in Virginia, from 81 in Winchester east to Fredericksberg. So that's my only knowledge of the route. I seldom come straight down 95, preferring to tack west to Scranton on 84 (or southwest on 287 to Harrisburg) and pick up 81 into Virginia. Then back east to Fredericksberg, bypassing DC. If traffic in Washington is perfect, the route I just described is almost a hour longer than directly down 95. But most times there are delays in Washington and the 95 route taking more time.

Hwy 15 is about midway between the route you describe & taking I83 from Harrisburg to Baltimore and then I695/95 south. 15 runs fairly straight north from 17 at Warrenton, VA past Fredrick, MD & Gettysburg to Harrisburg.
There are trade-offs with all the routes. I guess it comes down to weather, time, traffic & individual preferences.

I avoid the inland route (I81) if the weather is threatening in Pennsylvania. Often snow over there is just rain on I95.

The video shows the Cowboy that I know. I was him the other day and he was shoveling snow for the owners of the New York Connection and the Jewelery Store on Bleecker and Genny. Does a real good job and makes some extra money. How he rides that bicycle in this snowy weather is beyond me. He always has that perfume-ode de alcohol, about him.

I still can't believe that both "Cowboys" are still alive. Thought by now sclerosis of the liver would have done them in. Unbelievable! They are both medical miracles.

I remember Wild Bill playing the spoons at Cavanaugh's Cove, when he used to stop there every day after work. He was working for Harry Murray then, laying blacktop.

Didn't his brother Bob use to own the bar, The Hole In The Wall, on Oriskany Street just before it closed for good? Can't think of their last names. Damn senior moments!

I thought Bill worked for Bob Lynn?
Anyways, is he still alive? Who was that platinum blonde gal he dated?

Yep. He worked for him also. He worked for Harry Murray one summer when I owned the cleaning business. I used to clean the carpets at Harry's office on Woods Road, and saw him there one day while I was working there. I was surprised to see him there also. He was drinking beer in the garage. Who knows, he might have been just visiting with the rest of the drunks that worked for Harry. LOL.
