No thanks Stoney. Just happens that it is my favorite treat, and I have a package of Andes mints sitting on the desk as we speak. Kathy picked them up at Walgreen's just yesterday.

Thanks, Stoney, but there's no need. Kracker and I often agree on issues and sometimes not, but we also listen to each other. My opinions may be summed up as conservative, but I'm the son of a working man and a union member who had a positive but sober approach to labor-management problems. He was often selected to sit in on negotiations because he was a kind man, a realist who avoided ideology and instead sought balance. He was fully aware that the haves take advantage of the have-nots, but he held to moral principles and always argued from the standpoint of reason. The trick was to balance right and wrong with practicality. I think we all learn a lot from each other on this Forum when we can keep the discussion from degenerating into ad hominems and insult. I believe Kracker and I maintain that in our debates. I'm convinced we're lucky that all the members here are not conservative. That would be boring and we'd never learn anything while we exchanged similar opinions. Our Forum's tradition is to frown on members who insult each other, except for a long-standing practice of insulting Teddy Kennedy or his memory.

Well, I guess that's OK. I used to make women swoon, now I only make them cry. Not really, I don't think many women swooned over me. I'll have to check that out with Mrs. Dave. But if my memory is intact today, I remember from my college partying days the only woman who ever swooned over me also threw up on me.

Dave is always very eloquent in his wording of his posts. (Well most of the time anyhow). I wish I were less crass and outspoken, and more reserved in stating what crosses my mind, but I think that is not going to happen in this lifetime. While I seldom intend to personalize an insult, I DO post with the intent to evoke a animated response from somebody quite often. In other words I don't try to hurt anyone's feelings, but I love to push a button or two when it comes to politics, ROFL.
Dave has been a both a silent, and sometimes not so silent mentor. He has been one that has corrected me many times when I have gotten over the edge and sent it in a PM instead of taking it up on the open forum. He is not only eloquent Stoney, he is fair, polite, and a true scholar and gentleman in every way. I would love to have the privilege of possessing his knowledge, education, life experiences and talents.
Believe it or not, I DO occasionally consult someone for an opinion other than my own, when I think I have made a mistake or committed an indiscretion on here. LOL.

I was just about to aim a few really nasy insults your way, including your sexual orientaion, your birthright & what have you. I won't elaborate further. But then I read your post.

So what do you really think should be done about escalating property taxes. Real question, do you think it has more to do with graft and corruption? More so that salaries and benefits and the number of public workers? I can't really believe that, but I could be wrong.

How to cut taxes. That's a tough one but the answer is clear, one percentage point at a time until we can again afford them. The methods used to cut are decisive and targeted to get us pissed off.
We do get mad and convince them to save whatever it is they were dangling like Micheal Jackson's baby!
Just as my expenditures are based on income so should theirs. If each and every budget is cut by the same percentages, all will pay less of a price, all will share the burden. Do it every year until it's back in sync and in line with our real budgets!
