Funny sh*t, Chris. My God, he is so young there. ;D I always wanted a bug but because of the location of the motor they were always too cold in the winter for this chick. Same went for the rag-top jeep I had. Nice in the summer but froze my dupa off in the winter. Only kept that for one season.

The heat problems with the old bugs was that the heat ducts were stamped sheet metal and were actually stamped right into the floor of the car. Sadly, in the North with all the salt they use on the roads, the damn floors would rot out and you would get no heat. We had a guy that worked at the base fire department that had an old bug. He would put a full roll of toilet paper in a coffee can to act like a wick and pour rubbing alcohol in the can and light it. He would light the can a little while before we got off work, and then put out the alcohol burner and would drive home with a parka on and a scraper in his hand to scrape the INSIDE of the windshield from his breath freezing onto it, LOL. All he had to do to put out the alcohol burning in the can was put a lid on it, and smother it. Best thing that ever happened to the guy was when his daughter married a base fireman, and he started riding to work with his son in-law in a nice warm chevy pickup.
