I didn't watch the pageant but did catch Miss Oklahoma doing her Pointe. This morning I read that a 17 year old won it. I am not aware of the rules for qualifying but for some reason felt that was way to young to be representing us as Miss USA. Maybe miss teen but 17 ?

Damn Chris, I missed it. I forgot it was on. Too young, not necessary so. My daughter who was in the pageant system from 7 years old and won her share of titles and crowns was interviewed at eighteen years old even before she finished college by a prominent, large attorney's firm who hired her on the spot without hesitate. Meeting her boss for the first time he told me how impressed he was with her maturity at such a young age and asked what I did to produce that. The answer was very simple. Most people don't realize that contestants are not judge by beauty alone. Far from it. Most of the scoring determining the winner comes from the private interviews these girls have to go through with each and every judge. Also their stage presentation having to be interviewed in front of a large audience counts more then just their looks. I do not take credit for my daughter's maturity at such a young age but I do take credit for allowing her to be in the pageant system that gave her the abilities to become the young successful business woman she is today and for the respect she receives from her employers and her peers even though she is much younger then them.
