David Nelson, son and a star on "The Adventures of Ozzie and Harriet" show has passed away at the age of 74. I feel sad. It was one of the best shows on TV in their time. Wonderful family show that many of their viewers tried to follow in their foot steps. They were a good influence on many. RIP David and thank you for the many years of good family value entertainment.

While everyone else was swooning over Elvis, I always thought Ricky Nelson was a much better singer. Ozzie and Harriet was one of my favorite shows back then. That and Father Knows Best.
I had not given any thought to David Nelson. It seems like yesterday we watched him on TV and here he is is dead at 74. Gosh, the years fly by way to quickly. I hope he rests in peace.

Rick Nelson died a horrible death in 1985. While he hated to fly, he evidently liked touring by bus even less. He bought an old DC3 from another celebrity that had the rows of seats torn out and fitted for Rock Star travel. On its last flight, the gasoline heater in the back of the passenger cabin kept going out and the pilot went back to adjust it a number of times. Eventually, the cabin filled with smoke and the pilot and co-pilot, to keep the flight deck free of smoke so they could fly the airplane, opened the small sliding cockpit windows. This action had its intended effect, but it also fed the fire behind them in the cabin and turned it into a smoke filled inferno.
They landed in a field. Although the airframe held together, the plane became fully involved in flame as the two pilots kicked out the windows and slid down the nose to safety. Rick and his fiancee and three (I think) band members died in the flaming wreckage. They were probably gone before the plane hit the ground, but there are conflicting reports and one says they died of impact injuries.
BTW, I liked his music, but he was no Elvis.

No, Ricky Nelson was no Elvis cause everyone had their own styles which was a good thing, but Ricky was a great star in his own right being a star on his parents show and in his singing where he also had a hugh following. Just too bad he died so young and never got a chance to further his career. Believe it or not, not all were were Elvis fans. I wasn't. I liked one or two of his songs and I thought his movies sucked. My favorite was Frankie Valli and the Four Seasons. Frankie has such a unique singing voice and is still performing today. I got to see him perform in person and really enjoyed his whole show. Little guy with a big voice. Fantastic entertainer. ;D
