Our population had dropped due to people moving south and west. They gain we loose.

Texas is leading the way with increased House seats. I wonder if their immigration is from the north or from south of them?

Swell...The Bible Belt wins; the Rust Belt loses.

Seeing all the Southwestern states that gained, I have to wonder, as Dave does, where the influx of population came from.

I am sure that a number of those DID migrate from Mexico, but there are also those abandoning the high taxes and cold weather of the NE in favor of the South, both Southeast AND Southwest. There is more progress, more employment, and less hassle to living in the South. We still have industry that is hiring here while the Northeast suffers declining employment. That is taken strictly from employment ads and news clips about new jobs here, and the same for jobs leaving up there. No serious research or statistics in my statements. I simply see industries here hiring people by the hundreds while my home state suffers.

Hopefully they will be allowed to open some resturants in our area. It doesn't bother me if they vote or not I stopped that years ago, just a waste of time.

You know, I always wondered about Mexico. For most of my life it just sat down there like a bad tamale. We had a fairly impenetrable border and never heard one peep from the Mexicans unless we crossed the border at Juarez or Nogales or Tijuana to purchase authentic Mexican goods made in China. Or maybe you wanted the better quality Mexican stuff made in Brooklyn.
Now ... almost but not quite all of a sudden ... we have a society out of control and a storm of violence brewing down there. Why? Drugs? That's the standard answer, but I wonder. I think the US plans to own Mexico someday. That's because we will no longer be able to afford such a lengthy border with a country that is uncontrolled by its politicians. As the US continues to become persona non grata in a world that is rapidly turning savage once more, we'll see rules in our society tighten and our borders tighten. And if it's less expensive to simply own a cheap neighboring country compared to the cost of building a fence along the property line, we'll just buy it.
I think that's why we "took" California, Arizona and New Mexico from them a century and a half a go. I wonder if Mexicans are resentful over not being able to go back to "their" land.

It doesn't bother me if they vote or not I stopped that years ago, just a waste of time.Theoretically they (illegals and legal non-citizens) wouldn't be voting. But their mere presence here, whether legal or illegal, increases the official population of the state. Congressional seats are distributed by population, evidently without regard to how many people in a state are legitimate citizens .

Dave,
I think the problems created by trying to absorb Mexico woul make the West Bank from 1967 to present look like a training exercise.

Haha! Could be so! I was just thinking. But did you notice I said "buy?"

No, I missed the "buy. " I wonder if that would work, "Mexico, a wholly owned subsidiary of Exon-Mobile."
