My condolences goes out to Lt. Raymond Pecheone's family, friends and all his brothers and sisters in blue in his passing. I personally didn't know Lt. Pecheone but that's not necessary for me to thank him for his dedicated service of 39 years as a cop in keeping us safe. I also want to thank his family for their sacrifice in having to feel his absence on many holidays and special occasions while he was on duty. For some of us, that does not go unnoticed. RIP Lt. Pecheone. Thank you for your service. I take comfort in knowing you and Chief Rotundo, who will be there to welcome you, will have plenty to talk about.

Yes Stoney, I think he is. Very sad for the Pecheone family. What a horrible tragedy.

Sad to say Corner, that is one experience that many cops have had to deal with. Many times they do not know while on a call to a crime scene or accident that it could be their family member or a dear friend. Can't even imagine how they feel.

Joanne's more than brutal murder has never been solved. I read an article a couple years ago and the case had been reopened. Obviously it bothered the Lt. to the end. I was working in the news media at the time and I'll never forget it or circumstances around it. I remember, at the time, they had a serious suspect but just couldn't make it stick so no charges were made. I always thought it met Robert Garrows' M. O. and I'm sure it was fully investigated. I'm not sure it fit his time line.

my understanding is the actual perps (2) were found and "disappeared" not long after the crime

I truly believe someday this case will be closed officially but not until all the solid evidence from other cases are compiled and compared but it is hard when the people involved are no longer here. It is one thing to know who the guilty parties are but another to prove it without a doubt. Many cases throughout history are still open and some will probably never be solved. Hey, I still want to know who "Jack The Ripper" really was. After 67 yrs of wondering I'm hoping to find out some day before I meet my maker. This is the case that has intrigued me the most. ;D

Def agree. It would be wonderful if this case was solved.
I was only a little kid when it happened, however, when I turned 16 & started driving, my grandmother told me never to drive through that stretch of road by myself!

Yeah Stoney, I heard that also but no one knows for sure about any of the rumors that have floated around. Very interesting and strange case. I know it's kept my attention for many years now. Will we ever know? Not!
