What horrible terrorist attack was averted by finding this bag of C-4. Did someone dump it there because things got too hot, or did they temporarily drop it there with intent to come back for it and use it? In any case, it is a good thing it was found before anyone could use it to take any more lives in a city that is still reeling from the WTC attacks. It is a scary time in our lives as the threats continually get more frequent, and the war on terror continues to simmer and boil. It seems like it is only a matter of time before there is a another devastating attack somewhere, hopefully not here in the USA, and especially not in NYC. www.uticaod.com/latestnews/x656694990/NYPD-Explosives-found-in-historic-NYC-cemetery

yeah, but if it exploded in the cemetary it wouldn't be taking anyone's life but just instill fear in the community around there. The only way terrorism can exist is to make people fearful.

From the reports I read (don't make me search, I think it was a Times story) the cemetary wasn't a target but a storage/transfer point. No detonator was reported. The C-4 was evidently found several months ago by a cemetary worker who moved them but didn't report his find. It wasn't reported until a 2nd cemetary came across it & reported it.
Some of this story doesn't make sense. I wonder if more info will ever be released.

Hey, ya have to consider the poor dead folks that narrowly escaped going to hell, and then some terrorist dude comes along and BLOWS them to hell. haha. I would be really pissed if I went to visit my loved one's grave and found their skeleton hanging from a tree and their grave just a smoking crater in the ground. As Clarence said, there are many things that don't make sense. As I said before, I think it was only there temporarily and someone was going to pick it up there and use it elsewhere. Otherwise a detonator would have been found with it.

One of the Bloods or Crips dropped it in passing.

Ralph, my first thought when I heard about the explosives was right on with yours. Don't believe it was a terrorist plot. Sounds more like gang activity.

I kind of meant that "tongue in cheek", but I think it was more something that someone might have run across by chance and made off with it hoping to get a few bucks for it, found out it was too hot to handle of just figured the risk wasn't worth it and dumped it.
Despite what a lot of folks think, it is not as secure as a nuclear weapon might be.
The fact that it was found without any blasting caps to detonate it sounds that way.
Who knows!?!?! But thank God it was found and turned in and didn't fall into the wrong hands.

OK, now I have a picture of a downcast terrorist standing in front of his superior and the caption reading "What do you mean someone stole the C-4?"
