Before the Boston Celtics take on the Toronto Raptors tonight, Nick Vanderwood, of New York Mills will have his dream come true. This talented 13 year old young man was chosen to sing both national anthems at 6pm before the game begins in Boston. What an experience and honor for this young man. I'm not much into baseball but will watch tonight just to see and hear this young man bring it home for our area. YOU GO NICK! ;D

Was it a senior moment or simply a blonde moment? Haha. I can't stand to watch basketball on TV. I hate it when the season rolls around and that is all that is on when the weekend rolls around.

Haha. You are just a violent woman Bobbbiez. You would rather hear the clacking os sticks banging together, and the sound of bodies slamming the boards. A little blood on the ice makes it a little more exciting also as long as it isn't one of your boys or grandkids, LOL. Basketball has gotten boring from the competitive game it was when I was in High School. The players now are so damn tall that it is just like watching a tennis game. Tennis you watch the ball going back and forth until your eyes cross, and basketball is the same thing but slower. It is tall guys charging down one end of the court and slamming a ball into a basket, and then the other team charging back up the court to slam the ball into the opposite net. Doesn't make any sense to me. The only thing that impresses me in a game of basketball is a good three point shot from way outside that swishes the net.

Basketball is kind of like golf, huh Clipper? About as exciting as watching bacteria grow on a Formica tabletop. But then, to me, most all major sports are the same way unless one posesses 'real' talent... like in 9-Ball Pool, or table tennis.
You don't need to be tall, or big and bulky, or slam each other around while carrying sticks, or chew tobacco - spit a lot - and scratch your privates on TV... while making altogether too much money as our country rapidly slides into the pooper. Don't even get me going on the ever-increasing plethora of crooked politicians.

ROFL! So very true on every count Kit. Love the references to chewing tobacco and scratching one's privates. I can't chew tobacco as it makes me throw up, but I wonder if I can get a contract at only half the salary to simply go on tv and scratch my privates. Ought to be worth at least a living wage compared to what they get for the whole package.

Hey, if I really want to enjoy more violence I'd watch more football then hockey. My boys played both and I'd have to say they had more injuries in football then in their entire history in playing hockey (even in their 40's now they still play.) Maybe old time hockey was rough on the body but today the mandatory equipment they have to wear keeps them much safer and even keeps their teeth in perfect condition. ;D

Hey Kit, I'm pretty darn good at pool but much better at shuffle board. Challenge you to a game whenever you're ready. ps: No scratching of anything allowed. ;D

Good thing they came up with decent mouth protection. Most of the old time hockey players either had dentures or a smile that looked like a picket fence with pickets missing, LOL.

Our buddy Dick has dentures. I haven't heard anything about him in years. I wonder if he is still in Prospect. He had lots of battle scars and puck scars on his face and was a fighter on the ice and off.

Dickie was my favorite player. For a little guy he moved around that ice so fast he was a big blur and could check and take one just as well as the bigger players. With or without teeth ya had to beat the chicks off of him. ;D The last I heard he still lives around the Hinckley area.
