Hear hear! I raise my cup in their honor. It's decaf coffee but what the hey.

I will agree Thelma, and I don't think anyone would take away from the funding going to the Library. I worked with Darby on a number of things besides the Seed Tech center going in there, they can use all the funding they can get. It's just that this is all we have heard about happening from "them" as of yet. Granted it gives the Library a great boost, but it does nothing for any other part and parcel of the city. When will we hear anything else. Although I bet it gives a great opportunity for patting each other on the back Monday morning.

Give them time, Ralph. Our Mayor has only been in Office for one month and a party of this magnitude takes a lot of planning. Remember, our Mayor's wife also works full time.
IMO - they deserve to be able to pat each other on the back.

I disagree. He's already had one month. And he's managed to insulate himself from the media and made several politically motivated appointments. That is not to distract from some appointee's qualifications.
But aside from those actions, we have only heard about this charity ball.
What about all this change he promised? What about the topics he planned on attacking. Where is his promised plan to improve public safety?
He's had a month to start to effectuate a change. The only change I've seen is personnel and a charity ball.

The Police cars now all have cameras in them - even in the one that patrols North Utica where it is usually very boring for the police. Now, we are hearing LaBella mentioning this Noise Ordinance that has been on the books for 5 years and we have never heard of it before now.
Give him another month to see if our new Mayor is going to start doing everything he promises during his campaign, or is he going to be just another hot air politician.

Good points, Thelma.
Does anyone remember the first month in office for LaPolla, Pawlinga, Hanna or Caruso? Could they be used to predict the remaining years of their terms?

The camera issue started under Julian's administration and was completed under roefaor's without his involvement. I don't really count that one.

Well the noise ordinance would work much better if it didn't fall through the cracks on the judicial end.

No, a lot of them are just thrown out or reduced to pittance fines and everyone smiles and goes home or out to the car to do it again.
Officers have told me that when they see this happening they begin to back off on the writing of tickets and go back to just asking folks to "turn it down".
I becomes a nuisance to the Judge and of course why should the officers write tickets when they are going to be thrown out anyway? So at the end of this round-robin folks stop calling as nothing really comes of it in the end.
An endless cycle of apathy.

I see. Too bad the appeals process and the strong deference to trial courts makes a successful appeal next to impossible.
