I understand that my second cousin, James Laurey, is an officer on the UPD. His father, George, and I were first cousins and lived in the same house on Amy Ave. for many years.
We have never met, since I left town before he was born.
He may be interested to know that his great grandfather, Giuseppi DiLauri, was also a carabinieri (policeman), in his home town of Cassano Irpino, Italy.
He left Italy in 1898, because he was not sympathetic to the growing Fascist movement, and to stay, would have endangered his life.
His is a very interesting and colorful story.
