Wow. That guy who started shooting at AT&T, & them was fatally shot by an off-duty Rome cop was 79. Apparently, he had problems with depression (& people) & had a list of 6 employees on him whom he planned to kill.
Did you know him, Clipper? His name was Abraham Dickan.

No Stoney, I didn't know him, but I think there is a something in the water at Griffiss that made all of us that retired from there a little nuts, haha.
It is very sad that someone can be that depressed and not have someone come to their aid. To be 79 years old, having lived a full and productive life, and to become so depressed and angry as to go on a shooting spree is simply very very sad.

From what I'm reading about him in the paper he had a short fuse & was always yelling at everybody. He had security cameras outside of his house, too.
Also, he had already been banned from returning to the AT&T store a month ago, after he displayed a weapon there. The police took away his pistol permit & his registered guns at that point, but he still had this .357 Magnum that he used yesterday.

What is it with people in today's world. Now when they get mad, angry, depressed, obsessed they go around shooting people dead or blowing things up. The world has become so violent. As Art Bell used to say "the Quickening". Maybe its time to put on some brakes.

I talked with a few people that knew him.
A friend of mine that worked with him at GAFB said he was a fueler out on the line and always a little "off". But anyone that sucks up those JP-4 fumes for that many years is gonna be a little "off".
Someone else that knew him said he was having some problems with a bill from a stolen cell phone that they had ignored (despite it being reported and a new phone issued) and let go to collections on him. I was told they treated him like crap when he went to complain.
Still no reason to start punching peoples tickets with a .357 though!
Kudos to Officer Moore for acting as quickly as he did, could have been much worse than it was if it was not for his actions.

I knew that he looked familiar Ralph. When I was a firefighter the refuelers used to come in the firehouse at night and have coffee. Now I recognize him, but I don't remember him being weird or anything. He did always have that raggedy assed beard.
I guess that the frustration of battling with the cell phone company must have been much worse than the three months of bullshit I went through while Alltel converted my service over to Verizon. I spent 45 minutes with customer service on Commercial Drive at the Verizon office and still didn't get my service straightened out until I returned to Tennessee last year.
I had no issues with the racial diversity of the employees, but I did notice that a couple of them were complete frigging morons. LOL
