I foresee nothing but problems for the beverage servers now that they are going to start serving alcohol. Number 1, they are charging for it. Number 2, not everybody there will be over 21. Number 3, people are going to get stupid.

I loathe the Turning Stone with or without alcohol, however, my husband and I travel a few times a years to Las Vegas and/or Atlantic City. I can honestly say that I've never seen a ridiculous problem due to alcohol, and the drinks in Atlantic City & Las Vegas casinos are complimentary if you are gambling. I am sure that there are dumb asses out there who gamble everything away kit and kaboodle and blame it on alcohol, but I don't buy it. A dumb ass is a dumb ass, drunk or not.

Number 3, people are going to get stupid. You mean they aren't already?

Stoney, I may have missed it, but I didn't see where they were going to bring alcohol to the tables or machines. I thought you would have to walk to one of the bars to get it. I don't see how the beverage girls will keep up with making change and keeping the drinks coming. I have been there when they were understaffed and I could hardly get a cup of coffee. Are you sure that the beverage girls on the floor are going to served drinks to patrons as they gamble?

I can't imagine it. When a person orders a drink, the server will have to schlep back to the bar to get it, & then return to the table. Very often players will move somewhere else. When we already had our trays full of sodas & coffee, it was easy to get rid of & you didn't have to track the person down. Now there will be a problem when the player moves to another server's area. PLUS they will have to make change & check I.D. Bulldinky!!

Damn, it's hard enough to get a cup of coffee when playing. Can't see it ever happening at the game tables now or in the future. UNLESS............they hire waitresses strictly for the bar orders.

That would result in even more problems, Bobbie. From what I understand, C&D will now be the employer of the 1,200 servers & bartenders, though TS will continue to provide their wages & benefits (which are very good). Oy vey, is all I can say...

Ya know, I still don't understand why it's not a "conflict of interest" between RoAnn Destito being Assemblywoman, CD Food & Beverage (which we all know she is part of) and the OIN. Must be it's all about the money when one can bend the rules or find loop-holes to benefit certain people.

I imagine that it was as simple as Roanne simply not being a partner or interested party in the forming of C and D. Legally, when Chris was still alive, she could remain legally detached from the situation, although she was closely related. I think she DID recuse herself from the votes that concerned the issue. I could be wrong. Right or wrong morally, she was most likely legally covered.

Yeah Clipper, you are probably right on but it still isn't right that a legislator be allowed to just excuse themselves from voting on an issue definitely related to them. I'm sure she has ways to ensure the voting goes her way. After all, one hand does wash the other in those positions.

It is called politics Kiddo. A person with ties to the restaurant business and bar business should not be on the board that decides that stuff period, and then they would not have to recuse themselves from voting on the issue affecting their private business interests.
But then again, you DO live in New York State.

Now, I know you don't believe it only happens in NYS. Politics is politics no matter where one lives. Shady deals are made from the top down in all forms of government and in all areas. Pretty much the reasons we're all in this big mess and all are feeling the effects from.

When questioned, her typical response has been that it wasn't her business it was her husband's. She has also served on legislative committees which had direct involvement in OIN affairs.
