I have a hawk that comes by and today I tried to capture him on video. The sun was too bright so I had a hard time seeing and so stopped the camera just as he was circling right in front of me ..full wing spam...saying as if Here I am get your shot. Only have a regular digital. The zoom doesn't work when the video is taping. Maybe next time.................

Thanks Bobbbiez. Here he is sitting and myself waitng for him to fly. I kept saying come on fly for me and all of a sudden he did in my direction and circled right around in front of me. It was beautiful as they are so graceful. He did a full figure 8 and then flew away. I felt lucky cause he could have flown away in the other direction and away altogether.

Very cool! It's not easy catching birds on film.

This made me laugh and think of all the times I sat on my deck at camp trying to film the humming birds. The little buggers would be flying around all day UNTIL I picked up my camera. Then not a one around and I would sit and sit waiting. In all my years having my camp I was able to film just two, but could watch many all day long if the camera wasn't in my hand. ;D

Chris, I am so sad.

The two peregrine falcons here in Utica who made their resident nest on the M&T Bank is the reason I feel down. Maya, the female has been sitting on her nest but, Tor, her mate has not been seen for two months now. That's a long time for him to be gone and since Falcons do mate for life it's not looking good.

I guess there was an unconfirmed report several weeks ago that Tor may have crashed into a window on Genesee street and may have been injured. I'm hoping the report is not true, but Tor is missing.

We here in Utica were looking forward to maybe little babies for Maya & Tor this year since last years attempt failed. Now, with Tor missing the hope for that isn't gonna be possible.

I'm hoping and offering up some prayers that Tor will reappear soon.

I get up every morning, pack a lunch, get my binoculars out and sit and wait with my camera. ;D

Actually the truth is my window and computer faces where he flies by so if I happen to see him as I'm typing away....I grab my camera and have a go at it out on my balcony. You can't miss him he is so big when up close. I think hge's got my number and is playing games with me now. :
