I am sure most of you dont stay up late and night and watch this.. but let me tell you, i was blown away last night... this is a short clip of the whole episode dedicated to Dr Martin Luther King Jr...
based on him not being murdered but awakening from a coma and seeing the world today...
There is some bad language, as its shown after midnight on cartoon network.. you might be a little shocked about this but the guy that writes the show is a mega talent and multiple award winner...
talk among yourselves....

I have DVD set and when I saw the MLK I was rather shocked. The most compelling part of the entire episode was his speech at the end. I don't recall everything in it's entirety but he pretty much summed up the way an overwhelming majority of African Americans are today. It's sad to see that Dr. King died for us, and for the most part he died in vain. We can live, play, and educate ourselves with our white counter-parts but not many take advantage of that opportunity. As you all know I am African American, and it's a little embarressing the way some blacks act. The cartoon is meant to be funny, but that end speech should have the black communities looking at that and saying damn is that me?

Similar to how Bill Cosby ranted and raved a few years back about black people earning respect by changing how they behave?
I don't watch much tv lately, so I don't see the show anymore.

JRC, the embarrassment is not confined to african americans. The african americans that embarrass you, are the same one's that promote the stereotypical attitudes of many towards black people in general. It is not just a black and white issue. It is an issue of attitudes period. White kids now try to dress and act like the gansta rappers and such. It is a matter of society as a whole declining into a state where such behavior and lack of ambition to lead and succeed has become the norm. Alot of kids and many adults have become complacent with their position in life, and don't have the ambition to try and improve their position in life. defeatist attitudes breed failure, and failure is contagious, especially in a society where complacency has replaced a desire to improve.
Martin Luther King Jr. was a great and wise man. He was a messiah to the african american race. He was also a messiah to human kind in general because he emphatically pointed out the inhumanity to man, being perpetrated by whites. That inhumanity is historically disgusting, and another was martyred many centuries before on a cross in the holy land for teaching peace and good.
MLK didn't die in vain JRC, he brought alot of attention to the cause of civil rights, and made extreme strides in the advancement of the cause. Many of us whites that took the time to listen to his teachings took away a new found understanding for the cause and a newfound love for our fellow man.
Major strides have been made in civil rights, but much more needs to be done. I am a believer that it is time for world to know that the stereotypical blacks that bring bad publicity to your race, are no different than the white trash of our race. They are simply made more visible by a biased media and bigoted white people.
I pray that someday soon, the african americans that haven't "heard the news" yet, realize that they are equal and deserve and can attain the same success as thier white counterparts.
I always say, we are all anatomically the same. How the hell has life evolved to make such a distinction over pigmentation? God created us all, and I told my kids when they were growing up, not to be prejudiced, because we will not know until we die, whether God himself is black or white. Haha. Would it not be a bitch, to be a white bigot, and get to heaven and have to answer to a black God! LOL

That reminds me of the story about a Jew that dies and all of a sudden he was at the pearly gate with St. Peter all ready to be ushered in to heaven. Rather dumbfoddled as St Peter was escorting him through the many mansions(rooms) in heaven the Jew exclaimed what is all that noice and complaining going on in that room over there. St. Peter looked at him in such innocence and said" Oh, thats all the Catholic's who think this place is just for them, the same thing happens when ever we get a new guy.

I know sometimes I am too quick to judge when ever I see or hear something that relates to a typical 'black' attitude. I try not to but then again we inherit the sins of the fathers. Fashion says alot about the person who wears the clothing; I guess that is why the clothing designers make so much money convincing us that we want to be something other than who we really are. I guess this is true about just about every industry. The sad part is that we all fall into there trap, regardless of education, religion.employment or societal placement. As long as some think that there group has superiority ovr another this attitude will always go on. Sort of like the hatred between the Jews and Palestians, or one religious sect in Islam over another. I guess it is all the same except for where a person lives. And the world of sports is tainted by this belief. Think about it.

Excellent points that many of you have brought up. I know many people do not like to discuss religion and faith. Many consider that to be a private thing which I can agree with somewhat. Some areas of current thought that gets to me is how uninformed many people are in terms of failth and religion. Its a life time of work and prayer. What I argu with is:
1. I'm not sure when this happened but why do we want to make God into our image and likeness when in fact it is the other way around.
2. The interpretation of scripture(Bible) up to the point of Vatican Council II at least for the Roman part of the Catholic church was only for priests in unon with Rome. Actual good biblical scholorship and research really got going within the German scholars. I tend to thing that as time went on many sermons that we the 'faithful' listenned to on Sunday or on just the special days some attend church, didn't reflect the research that was going on. This I can understand. I have an advanced acedemic degree in that area, if that means anything, lol.
3. Since that arrival of the 'born again movement' all of them use various quotes from the bible to prove there arguments and avoid the rest of scripture like a plague. A good example is this idea that we are saved by faith alone. This is simply not the interntion of the scripture. Faith and workd go hand and had. " Not all those who say;Lord, Lord will enter the kingdom of heaven". I think that most people could not handle what scripture really has to say in terms of our salavation. The four gospels are in most cases diametrically opposed to one another in terms of the actual audience that those gospels where aimed at.
4. It is the work of the church to bring scripture into the present age in all of its fulness. The church has not done a very good job of that. I think we can agree to that.
5. Under the reign of John Paul II so many years passed where the actual documents of Vatican II were just not taught. As a result we have an entire generation of young adults and adults who do not know what the church means in terms of there oun daily existance. How we journey with God has no meaning for many.
6.The conservative christian movement is doing more harm that good. Secular Modernism also is eating at the actual moral society in terms of its anti religious movement. Both groups represent a more political aspect of the greater church. And a lot of that has to do with a liberal scriptural theology that looks upon Jesus as the liberator. The actual movement is called Liberation Theology and the church in South America and Africa are its prime modus opperendi. It is a more radical aspect of scripture and actually says that sinfull social or political structures can in fact be forcefully removed. It is not just true in radical Islamism
Well that it for me. I have to keep an eye on my mushroom stew that I started a hour ago and now am salivating.
