Is Pulaski still open? I haven't been there in quite some time. Yep, Pulaski's is still on Lenox Ave and going strong as ever. Great people and ya can't beat the quality of their meats. Their peorgies are the best around.

No, Kathy's perogi's are the best around. Pulaski's are the second best. I lost my taste for Hap's keilbasa and started buying it at Pulaski on our last trip. I love their garlic keilbasa as well as their wedding keilasa.
I don't like head cheese for a regular diet or very often, but I always buy 1 pound of their Studzienina (polish head cheese). It is delicately spiced and delicious. Their hot dogs are also comparable to Hap's.

Oh my God, you're the only person I've ever known to have eaten head cheese!

I make pretty mean peorgies too, but the best made was my Aunt Mary's. Before she retired she made them to sell for the Ukrainian Church on Cottage Place. She taught me but I still can't duplicate hers. As hard as I try, mine just aren't as good as hers.

I was just going to say that about the Ukrainian Church's pierogi. They're great! Don't want to seem like I'm bragging but the truth is theirs isn't as good or as big as when my aunt use to make them for the church to sell. She cooked for all their activities, bake sales, bingo games every week and their little feast they use to hold in the back of the church every year. She is one hell of a great cook and since she retired a big loss to the Ukrainian kitchen. Now, I got her delicious dishes all to myself. ;D
