tanoury.wordpress.com/2010/01/26/does-the-truth-matter/Larry Jr blogged about his desire to pursue a political career ever since childhood. I remember his dad well, and remember the GOOD things that Larry Tanoury did for he city of Utica and the residents of Corn Hill before problems in his personal life gave his opponents snowballs to throw at his political career. This kid isn't perfect and makes mistakes, but his heart is in the right place. He isn't ready for the presidency, but he damn sure will make a damn good advocate for what is right and what is honest, if you put him on a ballot and elect him to another local office. His heart is in what he does. Anyone that shines a little light on the corruption, or threatens the status quo of local backroom politics is going to have to weather a storm of abuse from all directions. As a legislator, he may have been a loud and sometimes obnoxious maverick, but he did make the others answer some questions that nobody before him had the balls to ask. While some of you make fun of this young man, I will stand by my own opinion of him and have his back. I think with proper grooming, and more experience, we have a real political asset in the making. When you read the story that I linked above, you will see a young man that was born to be a politician and born to stand up for the rights of the working class and those that have spoken out for years but have yet to be heard. This is a lad that has lived his entire life with one ambition, and that is to be successful in finishing what his dad had started, and to represent those that need honest representation. Whatever the mistakes he may have made here in the recent past, I can assure you that his heart was in the right place and it was the frustration with the corruption and crooked dealings that may have driven him to the excess in his desire to cast a light on the crap that has been going on. City and County politics both need a serious house cleaning, and anyone with the guts to open the broom closet has my full support. Read the linked story and you will find that Larry is in politics for all the right reasons. Larry Jr can shake the trees, and all we need is for someone to follow along behind him to shovel up the rotten apples that fall. The Utica area should have a half dozen more Larry Tanoury Jr's. I really appreciated reading his latest blog post - and I don't know that he would consider his recent doings as mistakes. I'm not sure I see them that way. He explained why he took that picture, and it makes perfectly good sense to me - to tell Jerry F. that he had proof of a friendship with the CEO, and that he'd better abstain from voting or he'd bring it to the floor. He was being right up front with the whole thing, and has never made a secret out of why he snapped that picture. Yet, they say that he has yet to explain why he had that picture on his phone? No, he's explained it plenty! He's been transparent, and I personally believe that when you have nothing to hide, transparency is a breath of fresh air. It may appear to work against him, but the only thing really working against him are the powers that be, that want him to look a certain way. And no matter what he said or did, they would find some way to make him look bad. Because he stands for truth, and they can't stand that.

Larry, you say one thing on your blog (the Hendrick's letter should be considered free speech) BUT the OD on 1-5-10 says this~~
When informed of the indictment Monday, Tanoury scoffed at the argument that Hendricks and Barry were exercising free speech.
“What they did was despicable and has no place in politics,” Tanoury said. “That’s not free speech.”
So I'm confused....

Yes, the OD's story today was much more informative than yesterday's, probably due to it being a quick "breaking news" story without all the particulars. Daley definitely made Hendricks come out smelling like a rose. Now, who's going to pay for all the lawyers & court time? Well, the UDN was way ahead of the OD, running last night what Daley said. I suppose the OD could have wanted more background before printing that part of the story, hoping to first figure out the implication regarding Larry. This morning's UDN quotes Hendricks as saying , ""All I can say is that when it comes to Larry Tanoury Jr., it was never personal," he said. "I truly believe he's unethical. Anything other than that, I'm sorry, but you're going to have to ask my attorney." And his lawyer, Robert Julian, is quoted, "From my perspective, as a lawyer, I thought this was either an act of legal stupidity an act of malicious prosecution," Julian said. "It was a totally inappropriate use of the prosecutorial power," evidently referring to the D.A. But in the UDN article, Julian backs off from announcing legal action and says an apology from the DA would be appropriate. I see Larry removed his prior post here. That was probably a good idea. The less he says at this point without benefit of legal advice, the better.

This story may not be about Larry, but that is what the media has tried to make it about, and what Hendricks made it about.
How can anyone back Hendricks when he has already proven that he cannot be depended on for loyalty. Loyalty to his own party and loyalty to his constituents? His loyalty is singular in purpose. His loyalty is to Hendricks and Hendricks alone, and his agenda is spite and revenge.
If that is the politics that someone would care to endorse and support, I am GLAD I don't live there. Larry screwed up by blogging his opinion while the case was ongoing, but if the allegations made in Hendricks' letter had ANY credibility at all, you can bet your ass the case would be ongoing. McNamara has Picente's hand up the back of his shirt making his mouth move.
I am simply surprised that some of those that bitch the loudest about the corruption and crap that is emptying their pockets, are the same one's that lack the intestinal fortitude to support a person that has nothing in mind but to expose the crap and stop the corruption. I have no sympathy for the taxpayer when they sit back and moan rather than to stand up and be counted.

Well, I suppose we could start with those that put Hendricks in office when he had done nothing in the past to show any initiative aimed at helping his constituents. Then we can move to those that cry the blues about Roefaro, but voted for him. Sadly too many people continue to vote for the same old players because they don't take the time to listen to platforms and agendas or do any homework before going to the polls. Even more sadly, some sit home and bitch and don't go to the polls AT ALL.
Some people are simply out there in lala land when it comes to politics. They are the ones that don't study or follow the issues, and want 100% of all services available, but don't see the writing on the wall that the costs of providing those services goes up over time. They want all the services and won't give up anything, but insist that the politicians cut budgets and hold taxes at present levels with no increases. Tell me how that can be accomplished and I will vote for YOU.

While Hendricks is claiming that the Insight House lease was a "sweetheart deal" it is just a little more of his trademark hypocrisy.
If we look back to the ORIGINAL $1 lease deal for Insight House, both Hendricks and his lawyer, Julian, were on the board and voted in favor of the lease deal. So now, when it benefits his cause or PRESENT day agenda, he points a finger at Fiorini for supporting the present lease deal.
It is interesting to sit back a watch Julian and Hendricks throwing stones in media releases, at Tanoury, Fiorini, and the DA. It is strictly partisan BS, from a FORMER legislator, who like Hendricks, was not known for his STELLAR performance while on the board. A republican "has been" lawyer facing off in a courtroom against the democratic DA.

I think Larry’s only bad fault here is just Larry being Larry. He says what he feels he needs to say, sometimes when he really needs to say nothing.
We’ve all been guilty of that at one time or another……..but…..
When did this become about Larry?
It was already confirmed that he did nothing wrong, Fiorini himself said so. And hell…..everyone but Hendricks appeared to agree with him! It was the letter and allegation that Hendricks and Barry farmed out there that was the problem.
So……just when did Larry become the bad guy? The power of the press is a wonderful thing isn’t it.
Corner……Not only would I vote for him, I would be on his campaign committee in a heart beat! Let’s invite him to New York!

I don't think the DA wanted the case to begin with. But Larry, in his blogs gave the DA an easy out. Frankly, he should have known better than to speak publicly about it when it was still winding it's way thru the court sytem. The case is over with, which is the way they wanted it.
