Yes, that was interesting, Dave. Swimmy, that would be a great idea having law enforcement tag along with the SW on such visits. The problem with that is that it would cost the taxpayers more money, & you know how most people feel about that.

What about giving the caseworkers police training and deputizing them?

I'm not sure, Swimmy. Those situations can become so heated with emotion, similar to any domestic problem. I remember getting training on how to "take down" a mentally ill person who becomes aggressive. Thank God I never had to try to because I'm sure I would have got the worse end of it.

So, Swimmy, are you saying you would have the social worker actually be a policeman, or a policeman be a social worker? It's seldom they are both. The training is quite different, not to mention their world views.
