Thank you clarence for clearing that up. Are the empty buildings owned by anyone?
Legal fees are a big one. But if they band together as one, the legal fees are not terrible. And you have to find the right priced attorney.

Why don't we all get together, go to the Bogie & see for ourselves? Ralph can bring his big gun to protect us. ;D

Some of the buildings are empty, and others are occupied by daytime businesses. Places like Delmonico's aren't terribly impacted by Bogies. They are more than likely closed before the evening has progressed to the point where the coke heads and drunks have gotten restless and violent.
I would say that the owner of Bogie's is more than likely very well connected politically. Patterson's problems stem from the fact that he is an ass to begin with, and he should have known that the city held the cards when he filed his ridiculous lawsuit. Ya don't bet a pair of deuces against a full house, haha. If he ran a legitimate business in a legal fashion instead of pushing the envelope and sticking his tongue out at the law, he would not have the problems he does.
I don't know the story with Spilka's. I have not been around since that changed. I remember the Spilka's from the days when it was a working man's bar during the day and a clam bar at night.
What is with all the shooting and stabbing? Are men becoming wusses or what? Does anyone remember when a bar fight was when two guys drank too much, went out in the parking lot and kicked the shit out of each other and woke up the next morning with a fat lip or broken nose? Nobody called the cops and nobody was killed or critically injured.
Now it seems that you need body armor to go out for a beer. If ya don't get into trouble yourself, you could be killed by a stray bullet while dancing on the dance floor or walking to your car.

If DelMonicos could show that the bogie's clientele had an adverse impact on their own clientele because people are afraid to get shot by gang members (ironically, the inside of delmonicos is a tribute to every mafia movie one can imagine), then they have damages they could try and seek in a lawsuit.
