 Another incident at the bar Boggies in N.Utica this morning. Two shot and two stabbed. Why is this bar still in operation? What the hell are they waiting for....a fatality?

The Judge won't let the landlord evict..... Liquor Authority won't pull their license..... City just now considering nuisance abatement..... And he won't shut down and reconfigure..... Nothing that can't be solved with a few pounds of C-4, etc. etc. I have to question why so many find this venue so attractive that they come all the way from Syracuse? We try and attract folks with other venues to no avail, but this place draws them like flies to honey......albeit the wrong "type" of folks we're looking for, but still. Maybe he should rename the place the OK Corral or perhaps Tombstone? Free cremations after last call!!!!  |

Ralph, from what I understand for a nuisance abatement action to be instituted there has to be three felonies connected with the place in question and has to be on record to close the place down. Up to date there isn't enough to act on. Plus the fact, past and present victims and witnesses will not co-operate with authorities. Not much can be done in the avenue of nuisance abatement action. If anything, I would believe it should be the Liquor Authority's full responsibility to close the place down after all past incidents with or without victim's or witness's statements. All incidents are on record with the police department and that is more then enough to pull someone's license in attempt to close the place down.

While most avenues may be unwilling to put a stop to this behavior, there is nothing stopping the neighboring business owners from initiating a nuisance action in court and attempt to get an injunction...

I wrote a ltr. to the editor when that place first opened up. I said that since it was cheaper for women to get in, it was sexist & sent us all backwards & blah-blah-blah. The OD printed that one, too.

you are right Stoney. The MEN'S admission should be lower. After all, the women go there with the idea in mind that some sucker is going to pay for their drinks, so they don't mind the cover charge, hahahaha.  |
