Eh. smiting and exalting are really superfluous. Today was the first time I checked mine in a very long time, and only because gear made mention of it.

Haha. Me too Swimmy. I had to check mine after I read Gear's post. Hell, I am surprised that I have ANY karma, haha.

Swimmy, I asked the question whether it was smart for Larry to post the photo. Bobbbiez asked if you had whip marks on your behind.
One thread, two different issues.

OK, I've clearly allowed myself to get dragged into a conversation I shouldn't be having right now. All I'll say is the motive was simple, it was spontaneous as I was just surprised to see it and snapped a photo. There really wasn't much else to it. Shit, if I knew it would be this big of a deal, I would have not only not taken the stupid picture, I would have voted for the stupid lease too. Now I know why these career politicians don't dare question the powers that be and just stay quiet. It doesn't pay to try doing the right thing.
Gear, I do respect your request and didn't mean to act as if I was ignoring you. Although my attorney has said the same thing as Swimmy, he has also reminded me that this is still an investigation. And although this has nothing to do with the current investigation, I take pride in keeping well maintained records of everything I do. Also, I never intended for this to be public as it is a personal matter. The Chairman abstained which was my only concern. As for any other questions, it's none of my business. If I was to post it, then I would be exactly what they want to paint me as.
Let's remember, although I have disagreed with the Chairman on many policy issues, he did the right thing here. He also has a family and is a good man. The only legal questions here are; did I commit blackmail (NO), did the Chairman use taxdollars to 'pay me off' (NO), and did the authors of the letter write it with the intent to harrass and annoy (YET TO BE DETERMAINED).

I'm with Clipper on this one - you had every right, AND did the right thing in taking that photo, to show why the Chairman should abstain from voting. Even if it meant going out of your way to take it, which I believe you when you say you didn't have to go out of your way. And he did abstain. You were working your job better than anybody else. Not many people care like you. Don't stop, and don't say things like "If I'd have known, I'd have voted yes." Do not lose that fire for truth. Don't lose it. Or you have lost everything. Yes, it's hard, even horrific. This is the kind of thing that takes men from being just men, to being great men - even heros - taking that stand for truth and not backing down, no matter what they do to you. Matthew 10:26"So do not be afraid of them. There is nothing concealed that will not be disclosed, or hidden that will not be made known. 27What I tell you in the dark, speak in the daylight; what is whispered in your ear, proclaim from the roofs. 28Do not be afraid of those who kill the body but cannot kill the soul. Rather, be afraid of the One who can destroy both soul and body in hell. I understand the kind of pressure you are being put through, and I am praying for you.

I am not one to quote scripture Larry, but the passages quoted from Matthew, even without the thee's and thou's certainly say it all in a nutshell.
While the most savvy of politicians can make a mistake or say the wrong thing, I still have the utmost faith in your intentions, and in your dedication to what is right.
If I were you, I would simply not discuss this subject on the forum until the issues are resolved and the investigation is complete. Don't wander too far from the forum though, as you have many friends and supporters here.
I used to say " the bastards may kill me, but they damned sure won't want to eat me" haha. Keep up what you do best and continue to leave that bad taste in the mouth of those that do wrong.
Hang in there my friend!

Hehehe........
My doesn't this scenario bring back memories!
Think back on our conversations Larry. Sometimes there is no where to turn because they have you in that little box and continue to poke you with a stick. Once out of the box they push you in a corner and hope you go away.
Sort of like what happened to you last time.
Doing the right thing may not always seem right at the time, nor may it garner the results you wanted or wished for. But in the end you will realize that you were right and will be vindicated for it......even if only to yourself. Took me several years to see the end results of my plight. Didn't help me at all, but the results were no one was going to misuse what I helped build anymore here.
Keep doing what you're doing Larry. You're going to step in lots of holes and trip over lots of sticks, but who said the road less traveled would not be without its own pitfalls. The important part is getting to the end of the road knowing you walked with your head held high.

Well now Holy crap. I thought smiting & exalting were in response to the person's posts & whether one agreed or not. ALSO, in response to when a poster treats another poster shabbily (such as when one always jumps on another particular poster's ass if they so much as say, 'hello').
If I'm wrong, let me know. SMITE ME, BABY!!!! ;D

Hey Larry, I'm not one who quotes scriptures either but will quote my Dad, "don't be afraid to stand up and fight for what you believe in, even if you find yourself standing alone." Great advice and I've been following that wise man's (my Pop's) advice all my life. Hasn't done me wrong yet. In fact, I contribute that in making me the strong person I am today. ;D

Geez stoney, with 506 karma points, I don't think you have been smitten too many times lately, but I am also a little confused by the last reference to smiting and exhalting, as is swimmy.
Hell, I haven't even smited ya when I felt the sting of the lash, haha.
