Why would anyone want to subscribe to both? It is like eating a big bowl of lousy reporting and then turning on the computer to wash it down with another large dose of lousy reporting.

It's better than nothing, which is what we have otherwise.

I subscribe to both. The print edition & the e-edition contain a lot of content that is not on the uticaod.com website. When I'm home I read "the paper." I've been doing that daily wherever I've live for nearly 60 years.
When I travel, I usually read the local paper but this year I was able to hit the e-edition before my wife got up without leaving the room. At a buck a year it paid for itself the first day.

I scan the UDN daily but usually only find 2-3 things to read.
This morning was typical, nothing new since yesterday. They scooped the OD on the Sullivan incident in getting the story out first, but the OD got some comments from Sullivan while UDN seems to have closed up shop at 5:30 Friday.
I had some hopes for them but I don't think they have panned out as a local news source & I can get AP feeds from a lot of sites.

I like UDN Clarence, but I do have to agree with you that they need to be much more aggressive and "full time" in their chasing down the stories and in reporting them ahead of the competition.
They have some great talent there and Nancy Ford and the photographers are very talented. They have some other staff that brought experience with them from the OD and other news sources. It is not a case of talent, but a case of needing to get out there and get on the trail of the news.
Some of their news comes straight from the OD. Some from wire services. They don't carry obits or I would simply quit clicking on the OD page at all.
I still have faith that they will get it done. It costs money to run a news outlet, and they are a small operation at this point. If they can grow, so will their advertising revenue and their staff.
I love the folks at UDN, and I am hoping with all my heart that they can make it happen and give the OD a run for their dollars in the advertising market for online news outlets.

Because it's better than nothing & I like to read which former clients are getting arrested.
