It's in the paper today. What did you mean, Swimster?

Their site and printed paper rarely jive.
I'm only surprised @ how long it took to nail him and how little they got him on. He had his fingers in just about everything. Do they keep his name on the baseball stadium named after him?

If you subscribe to the OD on-line for $1.00 per year, you can see the whole paper. They don't have everything on the free on-line site.

i see. so for all the paid advertising and the obscene print subscriptions, they still can't offer an online version of its print version without charging for it. interesting. Thanks stoney.
I agree, Rod. I was surprised to see how much he got away with. But in the end, it's the little he didn't that counts.

I wouldn't pay $1 a year for the printed paper, delivered to my door, much less the crappy version that the OD puts online. The OD either needs an overhaul in the way they do business and report the news, or else Utica needs a new newspaper.
I read the obits in the OD, and glance at the news, but normally I read the highlights in local news up there on the UDN page, and other news outlets online from that area. This forum usually brings anything of worth right here to the forum for open discussion. You guys keep me well informed of issues of interest in CNY.

In my college days, I used to work @ a restaurant in Albany called Ogden's. There and another, Jack's Oyster House is where a good deal of the state's business was actually conducted. Ogden's is gone but Jack's remains. The amount of money that ran through that place from lobbyists and special interests was unreal. Before I worked there, I had never seen a $100 bottle of wine. Working there, I opened $250 bottles by the case. The place was an old bank and the wine was kept in an old vault. Very cool really with the door intact and open right in the middle of the dining room. Anyway. They never really DID anything. Just bullshitted, ate and drank. We used to just shake our heads while they just carried on without a care in the world while the budget was well overdue. We didn't see Bruno too much but his "people" were in there all the time with lobbyists and "consultants". I just can't believe that it's actually gotten worse. Amazing.

It will continue to get worse until people stop being so apathetic and DO something about it. I'm impressed to see some younger unknowns announcing their candidacies.

So of course he'll stick it to the taxpayers some more via the appeals route. Gotta love it.

Jack's! Haven't been there in probably 15 years. It used to be Keeler's (for years) and Legs Diamond hung out there in the 1930's. (Just a bit too early to tutor Joe Bruno.) In htose days my father and my uncle would stop at Keeler's on their way to New York City by car. There were no state designated highway routes then, he told me. You followed the signs from town to town. It took them about 15 to 18 hours one way, depending upon how many cow crossings they had to stop at.

If you subscribe to the OD on-line for $1.00 per year, you can see the whole paper. They don't have everything on the free on-line site. The $1/year is only if you have a print subscription too. Otherwise, it's $10 a month. www.uticaod.net/advertising/e_edition/

I didn't know that. It should be the other way around, because why would someone subscribe to both?
