This is asinine. People and especially kids are very sick all over Oneida County and they're outright trying to hide it. I saw this info posted over @ Topix and only after the OD was called out did they acknowledge it.

I have 2 little boys that suffer from asthma. The younger of the 2 fell VERY sick about 2 weeks ago, sicker than he's ever been. We'd followed his treatment plan to a t and no improvement. So I called his Pulm specialist who is out on medical leave (go figure) and his primary was also unavailable for the week so we went in to see another Ped in the group. She very knew what I suspected at the time. My son had the Swine flu. I asked her about the possibility and while she acknowledged that it was a possibility, she made NO effort to evaluate the situation any further. Just gave me the typical asthma speech. problem was that as a father of 2 children with asthma, I've researched the topic and could on my own determine that the poor little guy was suffering from more than asthma. You don't get a 103+ temp from asthma. All this while my son sat in her office coughing so hard that he gagged up the juice he drank earlier. She couldn't have been less concerned or bothered. The kicker is that I called weeks ago to schedule a flu shot for them and was told that they had run out and to try back in a couple of weeks.
So BEYOND the politics and economics of this area, this is yet another reason that it's time to go. Poor health care and lack of quality in service. This is St. E's mind you, not some rural clinic. Oh yeah, they once told me I had a muscle strain when I in fact had a broken disc jammed into my spinal cord. Why should I expect more?
Bottom line, who the hell do these idiots think they are in keeping information from the public that very well effects their health and well being?

Guess the medical staffs around Utica are taking more precaution now against the flus. St. Luke's, St E's and Faxton's visiting is now limited to 18 and over. No one under 18 can visit.
