I am glad that the guy is being compensated. PTSD is a horrible thing, and many Viet Vets were afflicted with it and not properly treated.
Any cowardly bastard that would beat a person while they were handcuffed to a bed deserves to be hung. Maybe "an eye for an eye" would be a good thing here. Handcuff the former cop to the bed and let the Viet Vet wail on him for a while. I would buy a ticket to watch that one. The cop that stood by and did nothing also deserves the same treatment as the one doing the beating.

Couldn't agree more Clipper. This scumbag that did the beating is now a cop in Frankfort.

Doesn't surprise me a bit. Frankfort's police force has been less than stellar for years. Heck maybe they will fire Jones and that will leave a place open for Sullivan to finish out the few months that he needs for retirement.
I hope Frankfort has a lot of liability insurance if they are employing Jones and turning him loose on the public.

Corner, you don't think someone can't find him a job guarding an empty mens' room in Batavia for 2 months? He must have SOME friends somewhere. How far wide of police work can he get and still be able to contribute to the right system?

Back to Jones/Payne: From the article: "...Corporation Counsel Linda Sullivan Fatata believes the city should not be responsible for paying the damages, since Jones was “acting beyond the scope of his duty” in beating Payne, she still thinks the damage amount is too high." Was she able to utter this nonsense with a straight face? What about, "Jones was never disciplined in (a prior similar) case"? I agree with the victim's attorney, who "argued that the jury should award an amount that reflects their “shock” at (the policeman's) actions." After the verdict was announced, the victim said, "“Had this been 100 years ago, I would have challenged them to a duel in the field of honor, where there are no lies.” Uh .... someone should have ushered him out of the courtroom before he really loosened up!
