Wonder how many streets we could have repaved in Utica for that chunk of change?

I suppose that if "that bastid Murtha" were "our bastid," we'd feel different. As long as the money went where I wanted it to go. I might look at Murtha as a kind of Robin Hood, stealing money back from the g.d. Feds. Never considering that he's one of the guys who took it away in the first place.

Thanks for linking this article for me Dave. It caught my eye because it reminded me so much of the money thrown at the Oneida County Airport, and Oneida County Airport has ZERO commercial passenger flights coming and going.
It is happening here also. Tri Cities Airport is working on a plan to extend their runway to accommodate bigger jets. WHY??? We have nothing but commuter jets and prop driven planes landing there at the present time, and no miracle growth on the horizon that is going to prompt airlines to start landing 747's here to handle all the "increased passenger traffic"
I agree that he probably has the support of his constituents for simply bringing home the bacon, but where the bacon is being spent is the problem. We should be looking for those moneys to be spent on something more productive and sensible.

This is not unlike good ol' Sherry Boehlert's continuous slatherings of pork fat on the Oneida County Airport (Whitesboro) and the train station in Utica. But voters kept electing him because of his "vast experience".
