So last week an email goes out to a number of local union and progressive lists announcing a "Town Hall" being held by Congressman Arcuri Wednesday, September 2nd.
Today, 24 hours before the "Town Hall" is actually being held, Mr. Arcuri posted the first announcement about the event to the general public on his website.
Please, tell me again just how much you really, really want to hear from your constituents.

Unfortunate for voters, but sometimes ... maybe often times ... no publicity is the best publicity for many candidates who are elected via advertising dollars spent just before an election.
And who would want to attend his Town Hall meeting anway? He never commits, never is aggressive about issues, never says anything of value. He's cardboard.
To hold a public meeting on Healthcare as he did recently, take the pulpit position down in front and then say, "I'm just listening," is ridiculous. He could be replaced by a Baby Monitor.

Hell it is no different that Obama's visit to Bristol. He had a captured audience of strictly Kroger Supermarket employees and it was simply a staged publicity stunt. He preached for 45 minutes, marginally answered 4 questions and left. None of them have the balls to stand up and answer the hard questions.
THAT IS BECAUSE THE DON'T HAVE THE ANSWERS!

Larry, I finally found the interview by Matthews of Arcuri and Fatah. To be fair, I think Arcuri acquitted himself, if not with aplomb, then adequately. An interview by Matthews is a tough gig. Matthews likes to pick fights. Many of his tough question are indeed tough, but meaningless. Arcuri's team and bosses may have been disappointed he said he'd vote for a bill without a Public Option, but at least he was honest. Fatah has more the personality to spar with Matthews, and he took the Rah! Rah! forget-hypotheticals-we're-pushing-for-the-public-option, which of course is not an answer.

You know those rumors about professional, paid organizers trying to stage manage congressional town halls? It looks like they're true: www.truemajority.org/aggressiveprogressive/?p=310"Last week, USAction sent me back to Upstate NY, my stomping grounds of 18 years, to help our New York affiliate, Citizen Action of New York (CANY). The area is currently buzzing with political activity, especially around moderate Congressmen Michael Arcuri and Eric Massa, both Blue Dog Democrats." Ms. VonEsch and her associates were flown in from Washington, D.C. to help organize and co-ordinate an aggressive pro-H.R. 3200 scheme in the 24th congressional district. That effort includes extensive logistical support, both financial and material, and close communication with local unions and "community activist" organizations. Please, tell me again about "astroturfing".

Oh ... well it turns out the issues are too important to allow the rabble to organize and decide for themselves, so we give them a little help. And besides, we have to counter the opposition's astroturfing, don't we? And besides, we have all this money and we can't reach a sizable TV audience, because they've fractionated across 800 cable channels or they're on the Internet, and besides ...

Did you notice the news coverage of todays town hall did not show his responses to any questions? Typical of an "Obama" tv affiliate. H e did do alot of hedging about what his position is and you can't tell me he has not made up his mind. I think he is trying to avoid the bashing.
Confucious say....."He who rides fence has sore crotch"
