Ilion to begin prescription drug discount card programILION, N.Y. (WKTV) - Those of you who live in ilion will be seeing a new prescription drug card in the mail soon. It's a new partnership between Envision Medical Solutions and the village. The program is being offered at no cost to taxpayers. Those who get the village's Electric & Water Utilities will get the card. Ilion's Mayor Mark Cushman calls it a win-win situation, "the residents will be able to show this card and be able to get a discount on their prescription drugs. It encourages them to shop locally which is a big benefit for everyone." Cushman says about 8,500 discount cards will be distributed beginning in September. www.wktv.com/news/local/53706742.htmlThose here on the forum who live in Ilion will have to let us know how much help it provides. It frankly sounds suspiciously like a county program set up here 2 years ago. The local newspapers touted it as a great deal and then later moaned that no one was using it. Finally, a reporter with some energy dug into the issue by signing himself up and trying to use the program. He reported back the program was difficult to use (it involved telephoning and no on answered the phone) and didn't save very much money at all. So I hope Ilion's program is far better, even if normally we can't expect something for nothing.
