Well I think that Obama will spend more money than that on Wednesday, for a 30 minute "town hall meeting" at our local Kroger's Supermarket than he did for his date night in NYC.
Our Kroger's has approximately 87 employees, most of whom are considered part time. For Obama to spend the money to fly Air Force One to Tri-Cities Airport from DC, as well as all the other associated costs for traffic control and such, is ridiculous. Why would he need to be preaching to the choir? Why does he make a big deal out of addressing only 87 people, all of whom are most likely without a health plan and are most likely supporting his healthcare efforts?
Would it not be more effective for him to have town hall meetings with those that DON'T subscribe to his plan, and to make an attempt to recruit more support.
His appearance is to be attended by employees only, and the store will be closed to everyone except the select employees with tickets. I wonder what that will cost us, the taxpayers?
Is it just me, or does President Obama seem to only travel where is Adoration Society is alive and well? I only see him when he has something to say to his SUPPORTERS, and hardly ever answering the hard questions from those that DON'T necessarily support his programs.

He wants to be a "man of the people" and will take every opportunity to show himself as such. He looks at it as the cost of leadership that you're being asked to pay for. He'd tell you leadership is partly theater. Any previous President would say the same. You can bet it's going to cost us taxpayers a lot to pay for all the fed workers who have to accompany him, transport him, etc. But how many dollars more has he cost us so far than Clinton or Bush? At least he canceled the Air Force One Fly-overs. I am not a Democrat, and I didn't vote for him.

His motorcade should go by the foot of our road on his way to Kroger's from the Airport, and depending on wind direction, Air Force One may fly over the house on it's approach, as we are in the traffic pattern for an approach from the North or West. It is supposed to be miserable with heavy rain and thunderstorms on Wednesday, so I won't be out there with a camera. We have decided not to leave for NY until Thursday morning, so we will be busy packing.
The city of Bristol Va police chief was on the news tonight, stating that the plans for street closures, security and traffic control are under control seeing as how the area plans for such things on race weekend.
What that tells me is that not only is my federal tax dollar buying the jet fuel, but my local tax dollars are paying lots of police overtime and we will be putting up with the traffic snarls of closed roads so this man can speak to Kroger employees for about 1/2 hour and fly off into the sunset!
I can see that we are really cutting back on uneccessary travel, and government spending. yeah right! I just can't justify in my mind, flying a 747 Jet to Tennessee for a "town hall meeting" with about 80 grocery workers in the interest of gaining support for his healthcare plan. I don't see the rationale behind this whole trip. There is probably a cargo plane bringing suburbans and a limo and the secret service are probably already here securing the airport and the 12 mile route from the airport to Krogers.
