I think we should send scab senators to Albany. Maybe something meaningful and with purpose would be accomplished. After all, what they are basically doing is striking like laborers, so who wants to go to Albany besides me? If we start replacing the current senators with scabs or "runner ups" from the election, maybe they would take stock of their position.

wcup, I've been thinking a little about this. I figure the current sideshow in Albany will drive more voter apathy. That has traditionally been seen as an opportunity for small groups, minorities, and externally organized voters to make inroads and gain seats they would not have if all the citizens had shown up to vote. Actually, maybe that's already happened, by the looks of some of the NY State politicians. But I'm not sure of the outcome in regards to this latest mess. Maybe nothing will change.

We can all write to our Senator's and let them know that we will not re-elect them for their next term.
I also think that there should be a cap put in place for their term. Just like the President, two 4-year term. This crap that a Senator can sit in luxury for 35-40 plus years is absurd. A regular Joe off the street will never be put in power without being a multi millionaire.
Something needs to change and quick, and this also means Washington.

That's a movement I'd like to see. No incumbents. Vote everyone out. It may cause a few problems ... not many, I would think .... and I'm not entirely sure what it would accomplish, but it would be a worthwhile experiment in real democracy. If you feel bad about booting a favorite politician, console yourself by planning to vote for him or her the NEXT time.

People are mad about it now but come election time the crafty politicians will spin like they always do and make you forget all this BS. The politicians have forgotten that they represnt US and not themselves. They just don't care. We are the laughing stock of the country. Just have to hope that someone with enough juice will put out an ad campaign or an election campaign that brings these happenings out front again to remind everyone.

no need for the SCABS now. The power struggle is over (for now). Let us hope they can get back to doing some sort of governing while they're there. Seems lately that they are treading water. I'd like to see them tackle fiscal responsibilty. I don't want onto go onto a tirade here about taxes so I'll wait for the proper thread. But lets hope the boys and girls in ALbany can get some work done.

... lets hope the boys and girls in ALbany can get some work done. They won't. The Boys in Albany are a bunch of losers, and many of them are convicted criminals. The reason why our legislature is so screwed up is not hard to deduce. The Assembly and Senate are laced with corruption and ignorance. The news media treats Albany as if it were a respected body of lawmakers who have gone astray and are making mistakes. That couldn't be further from the truth. There have been no mistakes in Albany, just wins and losses by one gang of thugs versus another. I don't know if it has happened yet, but I believe a dope dealer can make enough money to carry himself to Albany on the votes of his customers and those easily swayed by television advertising in a metropolitan district. And upstate, politicians sell their votes to a variety of buyers. Stay tuned for things to get worse.
