Hahaha. I gotta tell ya Corner, if you feel that when you get south of PA, it only lasts through Maryland and West Virginia. When you get to Virginia and on into Tennessee, your intelligence rapidly returns when you realize all the money you are saving on taxes and heating oil.
The so called "hillbillys" must be fairly smart and must be doing something right. They may be lousy drivers, but they know how to keep the costs of government to a minimum. I have never met people as friendly and down to earth as my neighbors here in the South. People seem more genuine here.
When you realize that you are paying only about 1/3 of the taxes you paid in NY State, and you are mowing your lawn the second week of December in a T-shirt instead of cowering behind a snowblower in zero weather, freezing your ass off, you decide that you can learn to talk a little slower, say y'all, and eat a little cornbread and beans. It is a small price to pay for the way of life here.
I know it is good here, but I am a New Yorker through and through. My favorite scenery and favorite places are all in Central NY. Even with all of the great things we have here in Tennessee, it is not "home" and I can't wait to come "home".
I know you are joking, and I also joke with y'all that are from up there, but there is nothing stupid about the people here. It is quite progressive and modern and people are way ahead of the game when it comes to knowing how to elect honorable and financially savvy people that don't steal them blind with taxes and political crap. They simply don't put up with political crap for the most part, and this is the first place that I actually saw a "recall" take place, and the mayor and two council persons were recalled for their attempt to take some land near the NASCAR track illegally by eminent domain.
To get back to the subject, over and above all the positive points of living here, Tennessee drivers on a whole, exhibit horrible driving habits, and it is not just the elderly. I would rather drive in Manhattan than downtown Nashville.

LOL. I am sure that arrogant and ignorant do not go hand in hand. I also have an IQ of over 150, but I am still arrogant and have to be educated every day of my life.
Law enforcement will do that to a person Corner. I can't imagine working for 32 years with troubled people and criminals and not having a little skepticism or piss poor outlook on things.
Nashville is great, but if you want to do the Graceland thing, it is even better. I have been to both cities, and actually enjoyed Memphis much more than Nashville. There is so much more to do in Memphis. Great restaurants and barbecue joints, wonderful jazz music joints, a great downtown and riverfront, and it is only 60 miles from Tunica Ms. if you want to do a little gambling in one of the dozen or more large casinos and return to Memphis for the night life.
Unless you are an avid country music fan, or want to see the historic sites like the Hermitage, just east of Nashville, there is not as much to see as there used to be when Opryland was open and booming. That real estate now is home to a huge outlet mall, and the new grand ole opry and Gaylord Auditorium. There is also the Opryland Hotel, but unless you are an Arab Sheik, you can't afford to stay there, haha.

Oh ... I thought you meant your BRAIN had a high IQ, but you were thinking with something else! Hahahahaha!
My brain is down to 88 this morning. I wear an IQ indicator that I can see by looking down the front of my shirt. It's helpful when, for example, I'm in Price Chopper and the clerk asks me if I have a SomethingOrOther Card. When I think, " is she talking about?" I look down and if my meter is low, I realize I'm not understanding something that I should. But if I can see I'm not down a quart, I know she's messed up and I usually tell her so. The indicator is a great little device. All us old guys have 'em.

A high IQ is not ALWAYS an asset. School was very difficult, because along with the IQ came boredom, daydreaming, and other things that made school difficult for myself AND my teachers.
Many times a teacher would be droning on about one thing or another, while others attempted to absorb the information, and I would have already read it, absorbed it, understood it, and relegated it to my memory banks for future use. While the teacher droned on, I became bored, my mind went to a different place, and I lost interest in the class until awakened by the teachers voice calling my name. They called it "daydreaming", and I just simply defined it as being bored. While I was "daydreaming", I was actually thinking "are ya almost done now teach? Can we move along to something more interesting here?" Skip the homework, and let's get to the test.
While we are wandering far from the subject of old ladies running into walls, I have to add that over the years I have learned that there is a very large difference between intelligence and education. I have learned a lot of life's lessons through the school of hard knocks, but I have always wished I had pursued a much broader formal education.
I have an undying envy of those on the forum that have extensive education and can bring that education to bear here on the forum. My education has been mainly pointed at my career advancement and work related subjects.
For someone that supposedly bordered on genius, according to educators and school psychologists over the years, why has life been such a bumpy road? Obviously intelligence does not guarantee good sense and advanced abilities to deduce and make correct decisions. I have often thought that this imaginary benchmark has been over rated. I know many folks that are not of any extraordinarily high IQ that are very, very, "smart", and I also know people that are highly "intelligent" that could not find their ass with a GPS.
Geez Corner. I guess that leaves you and I somewhere in the column with highly intelligent, arrogant dumbasses. I guess was shortened somewhere along the line to be defined as "smart asses" LOL!
