SPIN METER: Obama vs. CheneyWASHINGTON (AP) — Two tough speeches conveying two radically different views of America's fight against terrorism and the nation's values unfolded in separate halls, minutes apart. President Barack Obama spoke Thursday with characteristic nuance in contending the problems he's inherited are not easy to sort out. There were no shades of gray in the words of Dick Cheney. As during his eight years as George W. Bush's vice president, Cheney's world view remains us vs. them. A look at clashing claims in their speeches: Cheney: "Apparently using the term 'war' where terrorists are concerned is starting to feel a bit dated. So henceforth we're advised by the administration to think of the fight against terrorists as 'overseas contingency operations.' ... And when you hear that there are no more enemy combatants, as there were back in the days of that scary war on terror, at first that sounds like progress. The only problem is that the phrase is gone, but the same assortment of killers and would-be mass murderers are still there. And finding some less judgmental or more pleasant-sounding name for terrorists doesn't change what they are or what they would do if we let them loose."www.google.com/hostednews/ap/article/ALeqM5gsf6rM-TlaioxzG6bYVnWn4-nY0wD98B54VO0

Dave my personal opinion here is that I think Cheney is right and Obama is and has put us in a very dangerous situation regarding our safety. Obama has absolutetly no experience in this field. War is war. It is not nice. It has been going on forever and I doubt it will ever go away. Plain old history and fact. Obama scares the hell out of me.

Obama is a very dangerous man. His ego surpasses his good judgement. He has embarked on a campaign to discredit the Bush administration by declassifying CIA documents that are serving only a political agenda on the part of the democrats, and are endangering the American public.
While I was not pleased with the Republicans in the last Bush term, I am even less pleased and more disgusted with the game the Democrats are playing.
I have a sick feeling that Obama's handling of the war on terror is going to result in another major act of terror right here in the USA. I was a McCain supporter during the campaign. When McCain lost, I took heart in some of Obama's ideas, but have been sadly disappointed with his progress so far. He is going to bury our great nation in further debt, line some democrat pockets, and open us to further terror both abroad and here in the US. His playing with Iran is disgusting and naive. He is playing with fire, and diminished defense and diminished image of strength in the eyes of the rest of the world is a dangerous game to play.
My personal feeling is that we can get out of Iraq successfully and victorious, and can also win in Afghanistan, but playing games of diplomacy with countries like N Korea and Iran is just plain stupid. Those countries don't even know the definition of the word diplomacy.
I think he will screw with Iran until Israel takes care of the problem FOR us.
I think that if the Republicans can come up with a common sense agenda, and a more appealing and viable candidate than McCain, they can take back the white house AND the majority in congress, after we have lived through a term of Obama and a few more years of Pelosi and her gang of morons with nothing but revenge in their minds.
If someone doesn't lay down their swords and work across the aisle, our country is going to go down in smoke for nothing but partisan interests, while the world laughs at us.
