Once again all these laws will never affect the criminal or stop them from attaining them.
It will hurt the honest citizen that pays taxes. It would be to easy to just make gun crimes come with a much stiffer, no non-sense law.

The real aim is a gun-free country.

Responding to your messageþ From: Representative Michael Arcuri (ny24ima@mail.house.gov) Sent: Mon 5/04/09 3:25 PM To: May 4, 2009 Dear Friend, Thank you for contacting me to express your opposition to H.R. 45, Blair Holt's Firearm Licensing and Record of Sale Act of 2009. I appreciate that you took the time to share your thoughts with me, and I am glad that we agree on this important issue. As a gun owner myself, I respect the Second Amendment and the right to bear arms. During my 13 years as Oneida County District Attorney, I saw that crimes are committed with illegal firearms, not legal ones. What we need to reduce crime is not more laws on the books, but enforcement of existing laws. H.R. 45 would require gun owners to be licensed every five years. A national database of these licenses would be run by the United States Attorney General. This bill has been referred to the House Subcommittee on Crime, Terrorism, and Homeland Security. I do not sit on that subcommittee, but please be assured that I will oppose this legislation if it comes up for a vote before the full House of Representatives. Thank you again for contacting me. To receive updates on my work in New York and Washington, visit arcuri.house.gov to sign up for my monthly e-newsletter. Please do not hesitate to let me know if I can be of assistance on this or any other matter. Sincerely, Michael A. Arcuri Member of Congress
