City of Utica eligible for more than $500,000 in energy efficiency grantswww.wktv.com/news/local/42597577.htmlUTICA, N.Y. (WKTV) - The City of Utica is eligible for more than $500,000 in state grants, after Governor David Paterson announced that municipalities across New York are eligible for funding for energy efficiency programs provided through the American Recovery and Reinvestment Act, and part of the Energy Efficiency and Conservation Block Grant program. Something is wrong here. And not just in Utica, because it's a state-wide phenomenon. New York State is going broke, people are losing their homes to high taxes and Albany is handing out money to help you (city taxpayers) reduce your electric bill? And when you do, National Grid will get the state's permission to raise rates to make up for their shortfall in revenues. You can't possibly see what you're really getting, because you can't bend over that far.

Assuming those are federal funds, that $500,000 started off as $694,000 before it was confiscated from the taxpayers of Utica, taken to Washington DC where they wasted, spent and misplaced $194,000 and then let Patterson "grant" it back to the taxpayers. How generous!
And we still fall for the scam over and over again.

Corner, sorry I was unclear. I meant you the taxpayers as a group, those who pay the bills for the City of Utica.

That's how I read it too--the taxpayers as a collective.
Gasp! I used to hunt communists. Now I'm talking like one.

That's OK. When you said collective, I was thinking Carl Jung rather than Karl Marx!
