I DID quit my day job, and I DON'T want another one. I am RETIRED! LOLOL ;D I would most likely be community minded enough to do the job efficiently, but I have no desire to bounce back and forth to Albany, or to kiss the asses of the party pols in Albany OR locally. I don't think they let FORMER residents run for office anyhow. I would really have a long commute from Bristol Tn to Albany NY, haha. Now if Larry Tanoury Jr. were not so dedicated to his district as a county legislator, he would make and excellent and well informed candidate for the office. It is a little premature for us to send him to Albany before he "straightens out" the Oneida County Board of Legislators, with the help of a few other young and competent legislators on the board.

I was just on the NYS website reading the proposed budget, and my head is spining. I would love to pack everything up and just leave this state.

Got just the island. JAMAICA! ;D One can live very nicely there on a very small income from the States. I'd have no problem moving there if I could get my kids and grand kids there also.

Hmm. If Countrygal brings ALL of her animals, you would need a REALLY BIG Island, LOL.

I'd have to move (although Schuyler Commons is starting to look more attractive), then I'd have to register with a party.

Well we have not heard from Larrry yet on this budget and his opinion on Roanne's comment that we need more to find more ways to tax people.

I saw an article yesterday about putting in a handicap ramp over at the Utica Curling club with taxpayers money. They want to cut education spending but still spend money putting in handicap ramp at the utica curling club? I thought that Utica Curling club is a members only place? They can't raise the money themselves to put one in?

The curling club is a private club, but it is my understanding that they allow the Sitrin home to have a league of curlers and they are, for the most part, in wheel chairs. It is not a ramp to access the building itself. It is a ramp to access the ice rink, so they can actually get on the ice to Curl.
While it is a private club, they are very benevolent people. I used to take them to their matches when I drove a charter bus years ago, and the owner of Central NY Coach Lines was a curler. Their membership was comprised of not only the affluent of the city, but also many middle income, middle class folks.
Many of their members were on the boards of local charities, and were very involved in community projects.
I only make note of these facts because it is for the Sitrin Group of disabled and wheelchair bound folks that they want to build this ramp, not for their own benefit or for their regular membership.

Clipper why not raise money for it? To cut funding for schools, to make college tutition go up in the spring around $600.00 how is any of that fair? I know that the ramp will be used for all the right reasons but it's the whole point that the State could careless about education. To me education is the key to success. They are proposing to raise DMV costs, and for crying out loud malt liquor. Now I won't be able to buy my colt 45. JK. Seriously raising suny schools tutition, and cutting education programs is what really bothers me. All the increases that they are asking for this year is going to kill me, because I have to go to the DMV. Yet Patterson can put in a $20,000.00 rug that he can't even see. Sorry but this guy is a real ass.
