I heard that anyone living in Whitestown who is an avid writer should contact the blogger. They are looking for stories to be told about the Whitestown gang. Here is their chance.
Any takers???

My dad went to high school there, and I lived there for a few years as a kid. I went to Main Street elementary in 6th grade and went to high school there in my freshman year. I will have to see what people post, and I have some great memories of the village that I could share.
If I owned property there now, I would be very concerned about the zoning board changes proposed. It could rapidly become another New Hartford, with the developers joining the "foxes" having control over the" henhouse", and where it may be built.
We had an incidence of that a few years back, when the city of Bristol Tn. tried to illegally take some land near the NASCAR speedway by eminent domain and planned to let a developer put condos there. It resulted in a complete overhaul of the city ordinances, and the recall of the mayor and half the city council, but it was so highly protested, that the special recall election was called, and the VOTERS had their say. The former mayor and the council persons involved were ousted, and the land was not annexed by eminent domain.
Zoning is a function that needs to stay in the hands of a balanced board of commercial minded folks, and the average residential taxpayer, in order to keep a fair and balanced board, equally sympathetic to the business owners and residential taxpayers alike.
When 4 or 5 people with influence, gain enough power to be able to dictate "what is good for the town", rather than to temper the process and insure "proper" growth, you have "New Hartford".
Whitesboro, and Whitestown, are too good, and too "family friendly" to fall into that trap. Commercialism doesn't need to spread into Whitestown to the degree that it has invaded NH, due to overzealous, and overly greedy, irresponsible politics, and crooked, behind closed doors, dealing with developers and others.
People of Whitestown BEWARE, and be very wary how you vote. Don't be one of those that just goes in and pulls down a lever. Make sure that you read, and be aware, and definitely GO VOTE. YOUR future depends on informed and sensible voting by ALL the town's voters.
