Those who know Catherine Lawrence knows that she is "NH ONLINE." I recently had the privilege to meet with her during a recent New Hartford Town Board Meeting. Religiously, she attends these meetings and videotapes these meetings thus ensuring that what is spoken is not distorted or misrepresented in the written town board minutes.
Little do residents realize that "approved" town board minutes are often used in legal proceedings, etc. The problem is that town officials say one thing and then have their recording secretary write something different. It happens all the time. Catherine Lawrence using her blog and the support from the members of Concerned Citizens has ensured that the spoken word is preserved for generations and possible litigation, if necessary.
It is my undertanding that these videotapes can be purchased for a nominal fee and is available to anyone who wishes to obtain a copy. I think this was a great idea that started with Cathy Lawrence. Kudos to her.
Incidentally, I found Ms. Lawrence very professional, very knowledgeable on subject matter items (i.e. town law, foil, etc) full of excitement and laughter and most importantly, a woman of stature.
In talking with town residents, I was informed that Cathy Lawrence is the driving force behind Concerned Citizens and her unique writing style has gained her the respect of people - far and wide. Visit her blog ( and then go to Concerned Citizens and School Daze, etc. This woman is talented beyond anyone's expectations.
Local politicians would be wise to take heed when Ms. Lawrence speaks. Her words roar like a lion but she still has compassion and empathy for those who cannot speak for themselves and a heart of gold.
