On Tuesday night the 25th Prime Time aired their show called "What would you do".
Did anybody catch this show and if so what were your thoughts?
The part about picking people out of a line up and thought they were 100% right and yet they were 100% wrong and in some cases not even close. One lady picked out a white guy and he really was Hispanic.
One lady who was raped at knife point sent a black guy to prison for 21yrs until DNA finally set him free. He said that he forgave her but not the justice system that help put him away. How could you not be made at her. I would want to strangle her after 21yrs was taking from me. This really made me think that this could happen to me or any one of us.
Another one of them things that make you go hmmmm.

Rape is a touchy subject. I know one incident where a guy was completely innocent. All the witnesses gave the testimony that the defendant was actually with them and innocent. But it was a white girl who accused him of rape, and the defendant was Egyptian. Turned out that the guy turned down her sexual advances and she was upset. In spite of that testimony and the girl's questionable behavior leading up to her complaint, the jury convicted. It later came out that it was because he was Egyptian, and after 9/11 you just couldn't trust an Arab. That happened right here in Oneida County.
I remember reading about that other story you mentioned, todd. When the woman found out that her rapist was set free because DNA proved him innocent, she felt sick to her stomach and contacted him to apologize. They spoke for a long time. She didn't ask for forgiveness because she didn't think he could forgive her. He forgave her anyway because he knew that she was only going from memory, which any psychologist can tell you is not the most reliable device. He could not forgive the justice system because the dna should have been one of the first things examined.
I think it is a testament to how strong a man he is. I for one would have been furious with her and not been able to forgive her. It shows what kind of man he is, and one who could not rape or really harm someone. He also had 21 years to vent his anger and find peace. Who knows, all I know is that after 21 years, I'd be out looking for legal vindication.
