I must admit, the reporting by Dan Miner is superior to what we've come to expect from our daily. For example:

A promise or not?
However, nowhere in hundreds of pages of state, town and school documents obtained through an O-D Freedom of Information request is there what amounts to a promise to put up a stoplight or another form of an intersection along state Route 840.

Usually, the OD takes a statement from a developer or official and just reports it as something that was said. In this case, Dan actually went back and checked for facts. And the facts didn't match what the developer said.

It must suck to be Adler.

All the parties involved in this mess with the possible exception of the Yager family, made their beds when they kept everything hushed up. When you aren't being forthcoming, intentional or not, people are not going to respond favorably when things are brought to light.

The Yagers are my cousins, their father was my mothers uncle, Lloyd. I don't think my uncle would be too happy the way things have gone. He built that apple business up. I can remember riding through the orchard when I was young, it seemed to go on forever. They even offered him a speaker in his house on Middlesettlement Rd when they built the Kallet Drive In but he refused. It was right in front of his house. Great View!!!

I'm sure they made out well selling the land. Too bad that in todays world you need to look at those options to survive.
