Evidently while I wasn't paying attention, during the weeks since the new Congress was sworn in we have annexed Canada & Mexico and all of the citizens of the new United States of North America have become unemployed.

Last week I remember the stimulus package being $800 billion. After a week of negotiating out the pork the plan is $900 billion.
I did like Newt's suggestion on the Today show. Instead of negotiating pet projects in & out, from now until August the federal government could stop collecting taxes. Simple & I would see the result in my paycheck and the gas pump right away.
Of course I might spend the money foolishly: maybe additional insulation for my house or I could replace the sidewalk in front of my house & the bad spot on the lawn. Much better to spend it on someone's pet alternative energy project and new sod for the National Mall.

Clarence, no matter how badly you chose to spend any money up might get from a moritorium on taxes, you will spend it as soon as you get it; unlike the spending proposed in this law that will occur over the next five years.

When I ran this by my wife, she did a quick mental review of her pay stub & said, "Gee, we could pay off our credit cards in 2 months." When I asked why she didn't support him when he made his very aborted run at the presidency she replied, "he's an a**hole, why would I vote for him just because he had a good idea?"
Such a potty mouth, she certainly didn't learn that from me.
