Thanks for bringing this topic over here from your blog Strike. EVERYONE needs to know what is going on in NH, and ALL New Hartford residents need to vote to stop this ongoing nonsense. I am sure we all appreciate any links that you make available to us here at the corner. Your research and factual posts are impeccable and a great service to us all.

The sad part is that I told my parents about the vote and they had no clue! They wanted to know how I knew and they didn't, considering I don't live there. hahahahaha. sometimes it pays to be a thorn in the government's side...

I don't really follow anything concerning NH. Anyway it appears that this guy is against progress in NH. The area has so much to offer it should be allowed to grow. I doubt that urban sprawl will overcome NH. If any area can proper by a Business Park it would be NH. The one in Utica just seem to never grow, so many empty buildings, I guess there not attracting the kind of businesses that Utica wants.

Urban sprawl HAS overtaken New Hartford Concerned, and taxpayers are subjected to underhanded dealings everyday with the current band of thieves in office.
Very obvious to all that the current reigning regime pursues a personal agenda of huge proportions, and does everything behind closed doors, and many times either skirting the law, or bending it beyond recognition and to the limit. One has to wonder what the incentive to do business in such a manner is. Has to be some personal gain, in either kickbacks or promises, to make a politician run rampant over those who trusted, and elected him.
However honorable the original intent of the business park, it has long been tainted with shortcuts, underhanded garbage, and political backroom dealings. Everything that has been done there is suspect.
The biggest travesty of justice is allowing the school district to be involved in the real estate business with these crooks. Since when is a school district allowed to "trade" away publicly owned land, in a politically motivated swap with a private developer?
These kind of politicians ALL eventually come to a bad end. They usually get to thinking that they are so smart as to never be found out, but a few years from now, their dealings come to a head, and they are found to have committed felonious acts, and they go to jail.
That is my hope for this bunch, and as for "sprawl", New Hartford is the king of sprawl in the Mohawk Valley area. Poorly planned, overly financed by the taxpayer, and uneccesary. It will all come back to bite them someday, just as the Hotel Utica came home to roost in the City of Utica, but on a larger scale.

Concerned,
There are already several business parks in New Hartford that exist. There is no need for another one just for one business. What is worse is the blatant violation of state and federal law. I helped this organization sue the town. After filing a notice of claim, the town highway superintendent "resigned." It was in light of his criminally falsifying a state report.
Strikeslip is not against progress. Putting the government into a spiraling debt against voters' expressed objections is against progress. The vote on Feb. 10 is to cover a debt the voters voted against in March 2007, but the town went and spent anyway. That's against progress!

Strikeslip has since posted an update and additional information concerning this issue. I am taking the liberty of copying and pasting it here, as an addition to his other post. Friday, February 06, 2009 Just Say No In New Hartford (2) . . .
It is interesting how next week's proposition only mentions "improvements to Woods Highway in the New Hartford Business Park" as the object of the proposed bonding . . . .
. . . while the Town Board's resolution talks about many other improvements including curbs, gutters, landscaping and other improvements located in or near the NHBP . . .
So just how much are the taxpayers going to subsidize this private endeavor?
You all need to go to the link for Strike's blog and read his update in detail. It is very informative, and lists a lot of additional information relative to his first post, and the issue at hand. I also encourage ALL of you to REGULARLY visit Strike's blog at strikeslip.blogspot.com/Strikeslips, "Faultlines" blog is always well informed, well researched, fair and accurate, and I read it daily for the in depth reporting and information on subjects barely touched on by mainstream media outlets.

I think much of the opposition to the bond vote comes from taxpayers lack of confidence in town government to manage growth and development. The daily traffic nightmares on Seneca Turnpike near Woods Highway and flooding in New York Mills and Washington Mills are clear evidence those concerns may be justified.

Frankcor,
If only you could read some of the documents I have had access to. It would make you sick to think that this is how a "democracy" -- even one by representation -- has been run. There is a reason roger cleveland resigned. There is a reason the comptroller is taking a closer look. There is a reason giligan resigned. I only wish i didn't take my current job so I could finish what I started!
