Ok all you whiz kids here, have a question for you. With this stimulus payment they're proposing, does one have to file income taxes to receive it as you had to do in the last one? Would appreciate any definite info you might have.

I got the last one automatically. Not sure if everybody is getting the next one or how much the check will be. I heard it could be $1000. I hope so because I would love to get a 26 inch flat screen TV. and then have a nice juicy steak and lobster tails--two of them. I emailed Arcuri and Obama to up the amount to $1000. for everyone.

lol!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!!! Can you put me on your list for a surf n turf to? PLEASE! I'll settle for just one. What I need to know is what they're planning on doing with people who don't work and are on Social Security. Last year those had to file if they wanted to receive the stimulus payment. Just wondering if we have to do the same this year or else I won't have to file. For those it won't be $1,000. More like $300 last year. Let me know if you learn anything about this year's payment.

Just remember if you got last year's payment, don't try to claim it again this year. It will only delay your return. We wouldn't want anyone to get over stimulated,

finance.yahoo.com/taxes/article/106140/Taxpayers-Get-Second-Chance-at-Stimulus"Huge amounts of money are involved. About $10 billion will be distributed next year in rebate credits, says Treasury Department spokesman Andrew DeSouza. The Treasury won't send out separate economic-stimulus payments, as it did this year. Instead, those eligible will claim the rebate credit on their 2008 returns. That will affect how much of a refund they'll get or how much they'll owe Uncle Sam." Also see thread I posted yesterday, "Senate panel proposes $300 bonus for seniors."

Just that every time it comes back around, it's a lot lighter.
