I see that a busy, always thought to be too congested and hard to navigate intersection, has become too quiet now for merchant's liking. Hmmm. Can't make everyone happy I guess, LOL www.wickedlocal.com/utica/homepage/x33243448/Lack-of-congestion-hurting-New-York-Mills-commerceI only hope that Hapanowicz doesn't close. They seemed to be unaffected by the lack of traffic when I was there over the holidays. In fact it was easier to get in and out of their lot without all the New Hartford St. traffic. The store was just as busy as it always is. I don't think the lack of traffic has anything to do with the Miga Auto situation. I imagine that is a matter of the credit situation and the economy more than lack of traffic. Does anyone think it has had a major impact on anyone except the pizza joints and Byrne Dairy?

I'm surprised the Ramada is still open.

Yeah, that too Clarence. I have no idea how one would get to it anymore from the newly configured NH exit from Rt 8 and Rt 12. I rode with my brother in law from Whitesboro to the NH Shopping Center. Hell, I had no idea where we were half the time, but we ended up going through the little neighborhood behind National Grid, and then up the arterial to the can of worms and back down Genessee to the shopping center. I was confused, but I am sure I would have gone a different way, had I still lived there and was familiar with the new roads. I have no idea why we went that way unless HE was unfamiliar with the new roads also.

I usually get to the Ramada and the health club by taking French Rd and then turning onto Chenango Rd (ConMed is on) and an entrance to both are right off of that road. I go there quite a bit and I find that the easiest and fastest way for me.

Gee thanks Bobbbiez. I now know how to get there. I get on I81 at exit one in Bristol Virginia, go North for 630 miles to NY State Rt 12. Take Rt 12 North to Utica and then get off at the French Road exit and take Chenango Rd to the Ramada, LOL.

Gee, I just had a brilliant idea, while watching a commercial on TV. All the problems that people constantly complain about near consumer square could quite possibly be remedied by filling the sand trucks with Mucinex, and spreading it liberally on the roads around the congested area. THAT should break it up!LOL!

Clipper, Re: directions Don't forget the right turn into the Ramada parking lot. I wouldn't want you to drive all that way and end up on commercial drive.

Wow Clarence. Thanks for the info. You are right. It would be a mess to drive all that way and miss the driveway. I guess I could turn around at Hapanowicz if I realized my mistake before I got into the traffic mess on commercial drive.
What a zoo that has become. I went to Carbone Dodge to have a little problem fixed with my windshield washers while I was there at Christmas. I had all I could do to get back out of there with the damn traffic. What a mess. When the light at Henderson St turned red, I was finally able to find a gap to sneak out of there.
