Swimmy, about your love of Chinese totalitarianism.... Seriously, I don't think that the government telling us how many kids we can have is the solution to the problem, although I'm with you in your scorn of a system that pays people to have children they can't afford. In the spirit of "the poor will always be with us," I would first ask for a dollar figure. I.e., how much is this problem costing us? It might turn out to be not as much as we think. We could consider it part of the cost of democracy. And besides, we could always start up another lottery to pay for the babies, which we know is more often patronized by the end of society that is having too many babies and can't afford them. (Apologies to those who like the lottery who are not at the bottom of the socio economic ladder.)

On AOL this morning I read that this 33 yr old Mom is literally a full time student. She has caused her parents to declare bankrupty because she will not work. She has also stated that she would like to be interviewed by NBC and I forgot the other person she would like to interview her , she wants 2 million for the interview. She was married shortly but then divorced and questions still arise as who sperm was used and some wonder if all the eggs were hers, also. She is a woman who is obsessed with having children; her mother stated that she need some help with mental illness.

Geez Bobbbiez, there is no reason to punish the guy that donates sperm to a sperm bank. He is simply doing a service to some infertile person. In this case it may be different, but let's not put any more undue laws on the damn books, unless you are going to go after unwed mothers that put babies up for adoption for a lifetime of child support payments also. Same thing and same responsibility right? The guy just gives away a few little pollywogs, and a mother gives away a whole kid if you want to actually be quite plain and blunt. Some people donate sperm anonymously. Hell, those guys don't even know who gets the sperm. When I was in college a person could earn up to $50.00 for a sperm donation to one of the local medical school, research hospitals!! ;D ;D ;D

$50?? Wow! Does that place have a night deposit? Hell, just as a guy is about to reach his climax, he can hold his thumb over the end of it, tell his wife he will be right back, and run like hell for the sperm bank. Heck, his wife can go with him to make out the "deposit slip" LOL.

Bet it ain't $50 now! Not if you go through a reputable procedure. Lots of people out there wanting a child and willing to pay top money for a healthy sperm.

Seriously, I don't think that the government telling us how many kids we can have is the solution to the problem, although I'm with you in your scorn of a system that pays people to have children they can't afford. It should be based on net worth and education levels. They should be drug tested prior to procreation and if they have a history of drug use, submit to routine drug tests, and the limit is 3 per person. That way we eliminate people who have 14 children by 11 different people.

I talk with men on a regular basis who have multiple children with multiple women and are paying a whole lot of child support. I wish I could say I feel sorry for them, but I do not. If you want to have children, then you should have to pay for them. I agree.

I think you are wrong about Evylen's House Concerned. They provide shelter to young single mothers, but they also offer programs to help them with parenting skills, job hunts, and education opportunities.
I can't see where it can be construed as "rewarding" them for their unwed motherhood. It is just one more variety of half-way house. We have them for the addicted that are attempting to recover, for homeless looking to get a new start, and for nutcases that the state has dumped on the street. It also at least makes an attempt to get some of these young mothers on a road to success, rather than to leave them without education and a job, having even more babies and drawing more welfare.

So I was thinking of quitting my job and have lots of babies so I can collect welfare and live off the system, maybe I will even get my own show. Who knows, the possibilities are endless!

In Great Britian, where artificial insemination is paid by government health care, doctors may implant only 2 fertilized eggs at a time.
The doctor who implanted 8 on this woman should be horsewhipped. In fact, I think they should take one doctor out per month and horsewhip him or her. This problem will go away fast.

Where is Stoney with the cat and nine tails when we need her.? Come back Stoney. I think Frank wants a whipping. Just a gentle few lashes that raise welts, but don't draw blood, LOL.
