It's like property taxes. Why would they care? They know they'll get re-elected. Meanwhile, what's important to them are the buildings, be they homes or businesses. They don't care about the people in them. As real estate people say, "they're not making new dirt." If you can't afford your property taxes, you'll soon be replaced by someone who can. Obviously, that can't go on forever, but politicians think ahead only to the next election, if that far.

This is what happens when you have an "authority" running it.
There was never any doubt they would pass it, that was decided way before they had their mandatory public hearing.
I've been to too many of them; Pat was up there apologetically crying in his towel about the fact that "they don't want to do it but it has to be done" .......meanwhile Bruce is in the other corner with his water pitcher and shot glass using them as an example to tell us there is plenty of water and it's the cleanest in the US (even cleaner than God can make it) but we have more Federal mandates to catch up with......yadda, yadda, yadda, blase`, blase`, ad nauseum.
Please pass that hat and everyone votes "yes".
Same shit, different day.
