How about the Club TY, Tony Yoken and a very young Peter Hirsh! Then it was Hirsh and Bill Houser I woke up every morning to them. I have most of the Rock of Central NY Albums, they had some awesome local bands on them. So sad, replaced by blather for the most part....

Kenny Youngs and I were friends at WREM, but I wasn't into C&W music. Kenny was not only a great musician, but he was a nice guy as well. Many times he had to do haying and I took over his show on those afternoons. I was a lost little puppy because I didn't know the music or the talent (I took a lot of flak for that in Remsen). But Kenny was very forgiving as were his listeners and I welcomed that.
Yes, he's been gone a couple of years but will never be forgotten by those of us who remember him.

I used to listen to Kenny on the way to Old Forge every year. To be polite, you just don't hear radio like that anymore. One day he was jammering away and saw a friend pulling a hay wagon going by the station. He just stopped and said hello on the radio and the guy started waving back. Another time he dedicated a song to a female listener's son who was in prison in Connecticut -and said "but he didn't do it". I do miss listening to him. He was very entertaining on the long trip.
