Can anyone say " told you so" ? This is a great example of ignoring it until it's way too late and way too expensive. Decades of administrations have let this go until now we are in deep shit......literally!! This just makes me want to scream!!! www.uticaod.com/news/x1369594252/Utica-sewers-pollute-river

Yep, procrastination in politics. It is the practice of passing the negative along to the next administration and taking credit for the positive. If I am not mistaken, some of Utica's sewer lines are still made of wood. That should tell us how long they have been in place.
It is no different than the problem facing the county district. New Hartford and Whitestown should have been forbidden to develop any further until the sewer inadequacies had been addressed and fixed. Unfortunately all they do is continue to "address" year after year, and no one "fixes". We will just continue to build and add to the problem, because that is popular with our campaign contributors and patrons. The hell with the environment and anyone living downstream.
I have fished bass tournaments on the Mohawk River/canal near Fultonville and Fonda. I have also fished in the river below Herkimer, although I would not eat any fish from there. I am a catch and release bass fisherman.
I suppose I have a lot of nerve objecting to a few turds floating by while I sit in my boat eating a sandwich. I apologize for being so fussy.
We spend millions and maybe billions of government dollars protecting snail darters, fresh water mussels, ferns, and moss, but we let sewage go directly into our rivers. We prevent hydro dams from being built, to protect fish and spawning grounds, but we let sewage go into those same waterways. Uhh. what is wrong with that picture.
Yep, it is politics as usual in Oneida County and the City of Utica.
IF THE STIMULUS MONEY IS NOT USED FOR SEWER IMPROVEMENTS, I WOULD BE HIGHLY PISSED IF I WERE YOU ALL THAT STILL LIVE IN THE AREA.

The sad part is that this is what the state said two years ago when it attempted to block development in new hartford until it did more planning. And instead of fixing it two years ago, we commissioned a study determine whether there was a sewer problem (which we've known about for 20+ years) and how much it will cost to repair (which the state already told them 2 yrs ago)!

I hope they put some money into re-routing traffic in Consumer Square. The traffic pattern is nuts.
