I reinstalled firefox and I'm having the same problem. Weird. Maybe it's Windows!

At this point I would try another browser- such as Opera or Safari.

The problem is the same...firefox shuts down on me when I'm in the middle of something. It's fine on the laptop, it's the desktop that's giving me problems.
I did install safari, but I haven't used it that much. I'll have to play around with it a bit.

do a system restore back to one or two days prior to when the browser started screwing up then reinstall the browser again after you first delete the on on the computer the restore should get you back to the point where there is no bug the unistall reinstall should start you out clean

It's Windows XP and the computer is....geeez, I'm not sure. It's probably 3 years old. My laptop, which is having no problem running firefox, is running Vista! ACK! I'll keep trying different things until it's all fixed! Thanks for the ideas, eveyrone.

If your XP is sp1, you might want to upgrade it to sp2, which is reversible. (I know, because I had to reverse it on this laptop.) Control Panel, System, General Tab. It will say Service Pack 1 or 2. Does seem like a memory problem, though. I have heard of memory dropping out without the PC owner knowing. Happened to my son. He said he never got an error message. On the same tab, see if the memory number agrees with your understanding of how much you have.

Or you could throw it all out and go for this. Why the steering wheel? I'll bet Frank remembers FORTRAN.

It was almost easier back in the days of 'press play on tape 1'. :-o

LOL, Dave. I remember how happy we were when we got upgraded to Fortran IV! We loved them Holorith statements. It made outputting a breeze. The steering wheel was really the control that opened and closed the liquid nitrogen cooling pipes. heh heh heh ... I just made that up. The photo is actually a hoax. It was a modified picture from a cold-war era submarine training console. Check it out at Snopes.com

Really? What a terrific hoax! Let's see.... was the steering wheel the clue? I'm almost sorry you told me. In fact, I am sorry you told me. I'll just have to forget you told me. As I tell my wife, "You should get a memory like mine. You'd enjoy it." ;D I'll be laughing all night over that one!

I remembered seeing the photo around 4 years ago in an e-mail. As is usually the case when one of my friends sends me something in e-mail, I usually go to snopes.com to check it out, and I learned then it was a hoax. 98% of the stuff that people forward to me is fallacious like the tips about making money from Microsoft by forwarding e-mails..

Same here re most stuff received from people who should know better. I finally asked one friend why he never checked out this stuff first. Now, finally, he does. At Snopes. I found the above photo on photobucket when I was searching for something else. I should have known!

Well, if I had found it in a gallery it would probably pass as factual. But as you know, you can't believe hardly anything people forward to you.
